when the first time we read this play i thought hamlet was not crazy. its not only him that could see the ghost, but also the guards, remember? it is true that he depressed of the mystery of his father's death and he accused his uncle as the suspect but its not really couldn't prove the madness of hamlet. but i dont know what happen when hamlet inside gertrude's chamber though, maybe the ghost could be seen only by hamlet in there. i dont know, thats why mostly the theme of this play is uncertainty. but im sure that he's not crazy at the beginning

Maybe Hamlet is so obsessed with revenge, that he might look crazy. Everything is going on and he just could not stop what he has done so far, to take a revenge on people who have hurted him, and made him what he became look crazy.

It can't be a coincidence to whatever the ghost said to Hamlet about its death to what Hamlet might think if he imagined. Even if he grew mad out of grief, he was absolutely right about the fact that Claudius murdered his father. But yeah, he wasn't the only one who saw the ghost in the first place, there were other witnesses too. To answer this question, hamlet wasn't crazy in the first place, he wasn't crazy at all. He planned to insane in order to avenge his father's death so that no one suspects him.

I do believe in ghost and i think they actually exist. However, that wont necessary mean that the ghost actually existed. Maybe Hamlet could just be imagining things because he seemed to be really shocked about the death of his father and his mother's remarried. He did seems crazy and it would not be weird if he was seeing things normal people wouldnt have seen. And for Horatio, i think he saw something different and he mistook it as a ghost of spirit of human.
