A father of his mistress is the right hand of Claudius. A daughter or son would never betrayed his or her parents. Ophelia only had one parent, I assume that she wouldnt do anything stupid and she would do anything that will make her father proud of her. Hamlet might also assume that Claudius uses Polonius to get closer to Hamlet and observe him, and Hamlet might also think that Polonius uses his own daughter to dig some information from Hamlet. Thats a really good strategy but unfortunately it didnt really work because Hamlet could read his opponent in this cold war.

I think one of the general reasons for his insanity towards his lover Ophilia was his hatred towards wome due to his mother's act of betrayal against Hamlets father and that would have come to Hamlet as a huge grief and hatred towards his mother and all other women, but I think it's a different concept from whether Hamlet hated Ophilia or not that caused him to act insane. Hamlet loved Ophilia but I want to say Hamlet'slove towards Ophilia was the target of Hamlets hatred towards women and his poor realities. Also, It was neccessary for Hamlet to act insane towards Ophilia because he knew that Ophilia was dependent on her father Polonius. Any slip of Hamlet's plan might have ruined his revenge.

I think Hamlet could not trust Ophelia or anyone else except for himself and his best friend Horratio. He had to let Horratio know about this because Horratio had seen the ghost by himself as well and he was the one who actually braught Hamlet to meet the ghost because he also thought that the ghost was of Hamlet's father. Thus, Horratio was able to believe and be with Hamlet on the whole issue of Claudious being his dad's killer. However, Ophelia or any other person being closed to Hamlet, would never have understand or believe Hamlet on Claudious's evilness. They would have simply call him crazy and that he had lost his mind or something unless they would have seen the ghost by themselves.

i think hamlet acted crazy because he wanted ophelia to not trut or love him anymore but unfortunately this did not make a good change. hamlet just wanted to hurt her feeling and make her go away due to his revenge

Considering how Ophelia reacted, no, I don't think it would have been a good idea to tell her his plan. Ophelia's personality was of a very spoiled person at the beginning to the play and knowing that Hamlet has known her for a time now, it would make sense for him not to trust him. Hamlet seemed very methodical at the start of the play. He seemed to know what he was doing, every action he did was premeditated and every dialogue he ha with the rest of the actors was carefully said; it's not until later in the play were he is starting to have doubts on what to do. Not to mention that Hamlet didn't really have strong feeling towards Ophelia during the early scenes. Their relationship seemed more political then anything. It wasn't until Ophelia killed herself that Hamlet started actually caring and regretting the way that he treated her.

I think it was smart of Hamlet to act crazy in front of even the people he cared about. How was he supposed to be sure of their trust when his uncle had just killed his father? And it made sense to be crazy to Ophelia. Anyone could tell that they had a close relationship and that she tols him everything. Ophelia even showed the crazy letters Hamlet had sent. I think he had a lot of trust issues during this time because of all that had happened with his family.

Well as we have read. Hamlet was pretending to be crazy and he did it to see other people's reaction and their true intention. By doing this, he could find out about his mother and King's reaction if they cared Hamlet or not. For Ophelia, she was the bate for Polonius to think that Hamlet is crazy.

I guess Hamlet did not trust Ophelia and their relationship wan not deep enough. Also, maybe Hamlet might have thought that revenge is the first thing in his life. He could have thought that revenge means more than love to him.

I believe that Hamlet did not trust anyone, not even his own mother except for Horatio. He doesn't want himself to put in risk or else everything he is working for would be compromised. His mother can't be trusted because she bowed to serve King Claudius, his enemy while his lover, Ophelia is too loyal to her dad Polonius. Hamlet did whatever he could and acting out strange in order to cover his plan was a good idea.

I think Hamlet had to act crazy even to Ophelia because he could not trust her. Ophelia is an obedient daughter of Polonius, who is sly and loyal to the king, and telling her his plans would put Hamlet in danger. Ophelia's first priority is her father, and Hamlet knew that. At that point, Hamlet was also disillusioned about women-his monologue shows that he thinks women are wicked and weak in nature. Hamlet therefore did not tell the truth to Ophelia. He trusted only Horatio, a loyal man.

I think that Hamlet simply did not trust Ophelia. Ophelia clearly showed that her first priority was her father with her cutting Hamlet off simply because of her father's request. He also did not like women very much, shown through his monologues. He also was not sure if Ophelia truly loved him.

I dont think Hamlet was able to trust anyone at that moment. Everyone has betrayed him except for Horatio, even his mom. And, Ophelia is always just so submissive to her dad tht i dont even think i could trust her in that moment s well. I would be too scared she might tell whatever i tell her to her dad. And knowing that her dad would straight away tell the king, I wouldnt risk it..

I honestly thought Hamlet did go slightly made because he really did not know what to do or know whom to trust. Even his beloved mom ended up loving and marrying her husband's killer and Hamlet was just left in the castle to wonder into oblivion. Honestly, i could not blame hamlet, despite being the spoiled brat he is, to act strangely in front of Ophelia.

I think Hamlet had to act crazy in front of her because he couldn't trust her. Ophelia is a kind of girl who adore her dad, listens to her dad well and take in his advice. She tells everything that happened between her and Hamlet to her father. she seems to be loyal to her father and trust her father than Hamlet. And even Hamlet truly loved Ophelia, she never actually expressed her feelings for him anyway.
