Well i thought all his journey and meeting with his love was according to fate or his destiny. As refferring to their beliefs and culture, destiny or fate were highly valued and unchangeable by human beings.

I think you might be right that Dante went through hell to see Beatrice again. But, I also think God wanted Dante to see what hell was really like so that Dante would live a clean life sinning as little as possible. If he knew all the suffering that people in hell went through and how amazing heaven was, then Dante would live according to the Bible.

I think when Dante went to hell, he realized how scary of a place hell actually is. This probably led him to repent to God about all the sins he committed. Since he repented from the bottom of his heart, he was allowed to go to heaven again.

I also think that Dante was deeply missing Beatrice and was longing to meet her. He was worried about her. It may not have been his intention, but because his longing for her was so great that this happened.

Well probably he might be afraid of dying and I think he wrote is because of his image of hell when he falling into that hole. My opinion is that all of this is Dante's illusion and sometimes, illusion impact so strong that it remains as a clear image.
