I used to love playing around in dirt too. I would always make mud balls out of sand and water and dry them. I used to catch bugs like fireflies too. But now, I don't play outside in dirt and I hate bugs. But, dirt doesn't really bother me that much. I don't mind sitting outside. I actually love grass fields and laying down on it.

I think I also liked playing with the dirt and the ants when I was young. Back then, I had no idea of whether it would be dirty or not, and that would have been why I continued on playing with the dirt. But, when Ms.Boyd told us to sit on the dirt, all of us hesitated because since we are not children anymore, we knew what was dirty and what was not dirty.

The reason I hesitated was because I knew that that area was where everyone took their dogs to do their business. Plus there were so many other nice places in the park. That place wasn't just "dirty" in our standards because we're city kids or whatever. It was just dirty...

Well... before I hated dirt, I like playing there as well as playground with sand or wood chuck... After I found out the dirtiness of the dirt, I start to sit in a clean place rather than in nature.. hahaha... also, I don't prefer the dirt because of the insects.

I didn't think it was dirty but i did not like the idea of getting dirt on my clothes. It is simply very hard to wash and it doesn't look nice.

I did not hesitate that much because I did not see many bugs and I decided to just brush off the dirt later. I think many people said it was dirty because of dirt and bugs. The poet was trying to tell us the importance of being with true nature. However, I do not think we lost contact with nature; many people still appreciate mountains, flowers, rivers, and other landscapes.

Personally, I didn't really hesitate that much. At first, I was worried because I was wearing light-colored pants and I didn't want my pants to get dirty. However, I didn't think of it as dirty when she told us to sit on grass. I think the poet is just trying to say that we should enjoy nature the way it is and we should appreciate it more. When I think about myself, I don't think I really appreciated nature that much but after I came back from Nepal, things changed for me. Now I truly understand the importance of nature and what it does to us. So now I appreciate nature more than I did before.

Dirt is... dirty. Aren't they the same word? But I mean, I was fine with sitting on the dirt. I didn't understand how sitting on dirt is becoming one with nature. But it really was nice to go out and enjoy "nature" even though it was man made.

It wasnt that dirty, i was fine with it. I do like nature except anything GREEN. I like sand, beaches but not jungle or forest. I would rather live in a concrete than forest. If someone tell me to stay in the forest for a day, i rather kill myself. I agree with kevin that park is something man made not nature lol.

I've been at worst than where we took class. Anyways, it wasn't that dirty at all. But we could have been in some other place, someplace where it was less leafy and more grassier. I love freshly mowed grass because it makes me feel more relaxing. And I think the poet helped me connect to the nature. I feel ya!

I didnt mind going out to sit on the dirt. I actually enjoyed it. I was a little creeped out by the ants though. I feel like it would have been better if we sat on grass or something.
