Being a Spartan is not a bad choice. I mean if you really good at leading the army and you know how to make a strategy and legit tactic to defeat your opponent, that means youre a brilliant commander and i would like to be one

My opinion would be Athens.... I would choose to have more freedom rather than serving my country as a soldier. I would be painful to stay as a soldier until by the time I turn 30.... I mean I don't think I can live like that until 30... Some people who really like to be a captain or general would love to stay as a soldier but... just not for me

I would rather live in Sparta because I want to have rights and treated like a human rather than something close to a slave. Even if some women in Athens could have a pretty free life, it's not guaranteed that I would be a high ranking prostitute. Also, I just don't like the label of prostitute so I rather just live in Sparta and have rights.

of course i want to live in athens rather than sparta. Because based on Sparta's tradition, every male should enter military from 7 until 30 and then they could do anything that they want. well i dont want to enter military when i just reached 7 and spent (almost) my whole life in military. also in sparta it must be a war and violence everyday, since they have to control their slaves, as ms boyd point it out at class. and to be honest, i like to think deeply such a philosopher hahaha.

I'd want to be in Sparta. Regardless of the freedom that I'll get in Athens, the fact is, life will be very mundane and boring. I'd want to live in a world where it's exciting and unpredictable. Though I am 100% against on the idea of war, I think that at times, there will be moments of victory, triumph, and pride in the mist of these wars, giving a purpose for me and other men to live.

I would like to live in Sparta especially since I am a female and i would want to live in a place I would probably be better treated at. Although even in Korea, not all women are treated or thought of equally as the men are, it would be hard for women to be treated as slaves in their own countries. Life in Athen would therefore, be too harsh for women.

Like most of the guys in this thread, I want to live in Athens because we have more freedom there. It seems most similar to the lifestyle and culture of the society that we currently live in, and Sparta seems to strict for me. In Korea, it is an obligation for men to join the army and stay there for 2 years. There are so many men who tell me that they wasted precious years in their 20's living in the military. If 2 years seems so bad, then imagine how it would be like to be in the military from 7 to 30. I can relate to this topic because I'm a Korean man and I have to join the military soon.

I would live in Sparta. In Atens, women are not much better than slaves, had no education/equality, and had to marry at 15 but couldn't even be together with husbands. As a woman, I obviously don't want to live in Atens, and want to have much more freedom in Sparta. While men are at the war for whole years, women could take many parts in the city.

I would want to live in Sparta definitely. I don't want to be a prostitute in Athens even though it seems like they do more fun stuff over there. I think I would rather have freedom though. It would be annoying to live in that kind of society where you are just restricted to your home.

I would rather live in Sparta because they seem like a more tightly-knit community. The women also have a higher status than the yd o in Athens. They protect each other as a people and are very exclusive. They remind me of modern day Jews in Israel.

I would like to live in Sparta, like most of the other girls here have mentioned. First of all, unlike in Athens, I would get more rights as a woman and it will be less unfair to live in Sparta. Also, since all the men would be out there, fighting for this country, so I would be able to control my own properties without men disturbing me.

I would want to be in Sparta because I would have more rights. Even though I wouldn't be able to see my husband it is the same for Athens anyways. So that is why I want to be from Sparta.

Well knowing me; I am not at all a good athlete and always try to go out fo my way to avoid any violence or anything that would require me to run. So considering that I would like to live in Athens. Id be doing things that I like most and be surrounded by people that like the same thing. But, if I was born in Sparta i'd have to endure the Agoge training that would basically leave me no choice but to like athletic things and to become a bit more sadistic. So if I were born in Sparta, I don't think id really care if I went to war or or not, id probably enjoy it. But since im not I would always choose Athens over Sparta.

I would rather live in Sparta rather than Athens. Even though Athens offers richer culture, women in Athens do not have any right and are basically slaves. I would not be able to enjoy cultural privileges of Athens anyway, and thus it would be better for me to live in Sparta. Even though Sparta emphasizes military much, women have more freedom with no men in households to control them. I also heard that women in Sparta can actually have jobs because men are all absent due to military.
