I think that Achilles definitely started the fight. The king was just saying he needed a replacement war prize. Even if it was in today's society, the king wasn't even telling Achilles that he wanted Achilles' prize. Achilles couldn't take this and for some reason thought it was an attack on him and got very angry. This is not right, and Achilles definitely started the fight.

The point where Achilles and Agamemnon started to get angry was when Achilles comprehends what Agamemnon said differently from what he actually said. Agamemnon just wants to get a general war prize when he return the women back to his father, since king will not get war prize even they won the war. However, Achilles accepted as personally that Agamemnon will take his woman. Therefore, I think it was Achilles problem that he listened differently from the real situation.

I also think that it was Achilles, who started the fight. Even though he was very respectul to Agamemnon at first when he told him to give up the priest's daughter, it still does not justify that he can be mad at him when Agamemnon said he is going to take one of the general's war prize. I know it is hard for Achilles to give up Briseis because he loved her. But then it was expected that Agaemnon as a king would demand another war prize so that his pride is not hurt. Achilles should not have gotten mad. Maybe Agamemnon might have taken other general's war prize and not Achilles'.

Me too i agree with Min. Achillies was the one who had started the fight not Agamemnon. He was the one who took the war prize not Agamemnon. He also threatened agamemnon's throne .

Achilles was the one who started the war personally. He was acting childish thing and was getting angry about things that didnt even was relevant to him . But i think there was some aspects of aggemmom that he tried to make achillies angry in a certain way. Over all, i think achillies was the main problem and he started it

I agree with the majorities that Achilles started the fight. According to his personality trait, he gets furious with anger within a short notice. Arguing about a war prize that was not a concern on the war they were at Troy. Maybe this heated argument was destined to happen due to the fate Achilles was facing. And above all, Agamemnon was his king even though he was arrogant. He was supposed to obey him rather than getting into some childish quarrel about the prize.

At first, I believed it was Agemnenon's fault when he made Achilles become furious. Honestly, even though he was the king, he was obviously abusing his authority and power way too much despite the fact that it was all thanks to his loyal soldiers and generals. However, when Min said that the king should receive more respect because he is king, there was a point. Achilles did take things way too personally and he did disrespect his superior so there is also a flaw on Achilles's side as well. I believe it is both the king and Achilles's fault for their sudden quarrel.
