nice example joon.. but HOW COME YOU DIDNT RESPONSE ON MY THREAD AND JUST MAKE A NEW ONE! SON OF A MOTHER!! anyways.. hahaha. actually the guy who made the highest free fall before Felix Baumgartner was Joseph Kittinger on november 1962 from 24,500 m from an altitude of 25,458 m, in 1962 JOON! with different technology and safety. but people keep amazed by what Baumgartner did. and in my opinion Baumgartner is nothing compared to Kittinger because he made the jump with different safety and technology. and to be remembered in today's society, of course you have to do something bigger than before. like inventor of new technology, making a new record. but i think its gonna be hard, since a lot of inventions has been discovered before haha. and another thing joon, if you want to be hero in today's society..its really hard to be noticed.

I think it's a lot harder now than before because we've pretty much discovered all there is to discover. Those who are remembered in history are usually for coming up with something original/doing something revolutionary. There also wasn't as much information flow as today so people got more attention for their contributions. Now we jump from one thing to another so quickly that we rarely pay attention to it.

I thinkis hard in modern days because back to past you only could be remembered if your powerful or if you do something amazing like plato and the other philosephers, but now on you don't really need be powerful or special at smothing you can just do something stupid and then be on Tv or internet, but the diference is that some people that try to be remember in a very stupid way they just are rememberd for few day and not for ever. And even if you have talent at something you sometimes is hard to be remembered for ever, I think these day it's hard because these days there's a lot people that wants to be remembered for anything.

I think it is easy to be remembered in today's society due to easy access to information through Internet. Now more people can see someone doing brilliant things. However, it is difficult to be remembered forever by everyone in the world due to constant shift in people's attention, which resulted from Internet. In order to be remembered permanently, one should do something really extraordinary and shocking that almost changes the world. It is what people like Steve Jobs did. Meanwhile, I would not try to be remembered by today's society...unless I do something amazing, I would be remembered only by people around me, and I am content with it.

Lol thanks foe mentioning me Joon. And to continue on this point. I do think that you can be remembered. It will be very hard but I believe in a rule that goes like this "Do something amazing and people will remember you". If you make an inspiring work of art then people will remember you as someone who made a master piece. But like everyone else mentioned. We learn and digest things at an incredible rate and that leads to having people that deserve more then 15min of fame only getting 15min. Probably no one is going to remember the guy or team of scientist who made a revolutionary breakthrough. But their work will be and depending on who you are, your work is your legacy.

It is hard to be remembered these days. there are rapid changes. we have a technology all connected around the world but, since we have all the many connections, we are mostly depended on new speeds only. passed or old things will be ignored or covered by news

I think things are just too hard to be remembered forever in today's society because in our society, there are so many rapid changes going on with the technology and trend that informations and great people of times gets outdated very easily. Therefore, unless it isn't something very big and innovative, it is hard to be remembered

I guess you can say that it is hard to be remembered in the modern day society but I think it really depends. If you did something as great as find the cure for cancer you would definitely be remembered longer than some guy that jumped at an amazing height. You can still be remembered in the same ways as before such as writing a book, or achieving something that's beneficial for people or even by doing something messed up. I mean I think Hitler will always be remembered but not for something he did that was good. I don't know how I will be remembered in the modern society but I don't really care. It would only matter to me that the people that was close to me will remember me.

I think it is hard to be remembered forever but not impossible. it is a good example about the redbull jump thingy, because its true, people talk about it for a while and then after sometime you kind of forget it, but there are things that maybe in your life you wont be able to forget very easily.

I think it is hard to be remembered forever in our modern society because to be remembered, one should be famous and to be famous, one should get everyone’s attention in our society. For example, tipping points can make things to be remembered forever. Some might, of course, not think about it but will remember when we talk about it again. Therefore, to be remembered in our modern society, I should be famous for what everyone is interested on like songs or electronic devices.

I think that it depends on the people and their talents.. I think that being famous is actually a talent because being famous means that you have to be able to withstand a population of audience and keep them entertained and live an idiosyncratic life of a celebrity. So depending on the person's talent which is whether to be famous or not (*because not everyone is designed to be famous) I think the level of difficulty differs. Also, as a philanthropist, I'd like to carry out my duties and benefit the mankind and be remembered for that. haha

What the general society looks into people, nowadays, is not just their talents but their wit as well. If you out stand an ability that normal people lacks even if its notoriety, you are a certified famous. And since the technology is thriving in this generation and the introduction of social networking such as youtube and facebook, people posts things in order to share and show the world of what they do in daily lives and there is this like button and if it exceeds a certain amount, people recognizes you and if it spreads like virus, guess what, the world will know you and be remembered.

Looking at your posts, I think I can answer myself. Now, with so many ways to share yourself to the world, it's easy to be known or acknowledged. But it's just as easy to be forgotten as it is to be remembered. Post a video of yourself on youtube, and you're recorded forever into history. But no one looks at your video, or cares to unless it's a hot topic. And as many of you said, I don't care if I'm remembered or not. But I would care if I were to be remembered as some notorious criminal or something bad, because that means I didn't live my life the way I wanted to.

I agree that being remembered in today's society is not as easy as it may have been in the past. While in the past, there may not have been as many people that could actually read and write, nowadays, it would be awkward for us to be provided with little education. This means that since more people are smarter nowadays, it is obviously harder for each individual to be remembered specially.

I agree that it is hard to be remembered forever in this society. Since we have internet now and it spreads out news around the world rapidly which helps us get information quickly but in the same time, it makes us forget other issues. But there are some people who we still remember, those people who changed the society like Steve Jobs and Micheal Jackson.
