I think that Nora enjoys being called little too. As we could tell from reading the play, she does not like responsibilities or being worried. She said that it's nice to not have to worry about anything and this and many other things from the play shows that she's like a little girl. Little girls don't like having to worry just like Nora. Little girls also like to be babied and spoiled so I think Nora enjoys that her husband babies her and looks after her as if she's a little girl.

I think she enjoys being coddled and taken care of. She wants to feel protected and loved like a child because that was the role of women back then. I also think that she is just not smart enough to know any better and mentally she's still a child so she is acting like that.

Aww that is so cute Stormy.. you are tall so don't worry (:
ANYWAYS, I think Nora was enjoying that because it is how the society worked. During that time, "good" women were those people who were submissive and pleased their husbands. The fact that her husband was calling her by all those adorable nicknames sort of imply that he is pleased by his wife, giving the wife the "honor", should I say.

After reading the end of the play, I thought that Nora thinks she feels loved by being treated as a child. Nora thinks her father and husband loves and cares about her by giving her comfortable life. Her way of thinking is obviously shaped by the society which undermines the women's status. However, Nora later says she was always forced to hide her opinion by her father and later husband. So, I think Nora might not have enjoyed being called 'little' by her husband...sometimes, to me, Nora seems to fake her child side to her husband.

I think Nora likes being called that way because she thinks that is how her husband shows love to her. Or maybe she likes being treated like a child and that is why she acts like one. Also, like many people said, I also think that her father used to call her that names and that is why she is so used to being called like that.

i think it is becasue although he controlled her when it came to money, he still spoiled her and always like you said, always treated her as child and never as a grown up. Even in the play, Nora at the end faces torvald and notices that she had always been treated as someone less and that they never took their marriage seriuosly, to have a good ebough conversation to sit down and talk!

Yes, I think that it's this whole idea of brainwashing that makes Nora actually accept this role... It's certainly demeaning and degrading to hear that in a 21st century perspective at the time.. However, I do think that at that time, it was a common saying like you mentioned. But I think that the late 19th century vernacular was quite essential for us to give us a light into what societies were like at that time.

yea it was her past experience that planted a tendency to act like a child. I did not know about her father's treatment but I guess his dominance on her before she gets married is what really shaped her as a woman like you said. I don't think boys want to go out with girls who act like children since it is going to be so annoying.

I agree with the statement that Nora enjoys being treated like a child. This is because she enjoys protection and free security. If people treat her like a child, she does not have to try to get things she need. For example, her father gives her everything she wants. This could be the reason why she enjoys the treatment.

I think that she liked the title because she thought that it was how Helmer expressed his love for her. I don't think she really like being dominated over by the man in the relationship, she just was okay with it because she loved Helmer so much. This is clear because once she found that Helmer's love was not as what she thought it was, she left.

Nora thinks that those nicknames "My little lark" signify how much Torvald loves her. She wants to feel the love from her husband, the only person whom she can depend on during her marriage, since her father passed away. And I think that it is the norm in the society during 19th century where the husband had to protect his wife and his wife depends on him.

I agree with stormy i mean she knows better about herself then her husband however she doesn't want to be treated as an adult because she finds it more better to be treated like a child and she is also used to be treated as a child from her family could be a big reason too.

First of all, the guy was being super corny and gross. I hated every part of their relationship because it made me want to puke. No one in real life would bear saying "little skylark" to their lover. Anyways, I think that Nora treated the word "little" as just a sweet word that couples use as a sign of affection. But Nora didn't know that "little" put her below Krogstad, until she realizes that society and the way she was raised was what blinded her from realizing the true meaning behind "little".

Nora loves being called 'My little Lark', it makes her feel warm and comfortable and thinks that her husband still loves her by treating her like a child. She feels protected and safe as if no harm will come in her way just like the way a doll is meant to be.

I agree with everyone. Since she never had her own power, she's not even aware of the fact that she has always been under men. Throughout her whole life, she was controlled by dad and husband so she just thinks that she is still a child.
