We are reading Inferno these days and it describes hell in a very detailed way. The quote, "abandon all hope, you who enter here," is a perfect example of the heinous environment in hell. So does this make you afraid of hell? Do you think it is a correct interpretation of hell?
Personally, this story makes me very afraid of death and hell. I don't want to continuously feel pain for all of eternity. That sounds awful. Thus, I think that Dante made a pretty good interpretation of hell.

Yeah, I think it's an accurate description of hell, maybe even understated. Reading about hell doesn't exactly make me feel good, so I think it does disturb me in some ways.

I can't say that it's accurate since I think that Hell is beyond our imagination and that it will be a whole new level of pain, agony, and horror. However, I have to say that his descriptions, at least some of them sound very innovative and unprecedented. I think that Dante is pretty darn accurate with the souls in hell though. Yeah, thinking about hell does creep me out a bit.

Its not so hard to imagine hell. Its a horrible place where you will in one way or another, feel pain for an eternity. Dante gets creative with it but I don't think the idea of hell is hard to imagine or interpret. But for me hell would be a more personal place. It would be your personal prison where you will be tortured with something that will break your mind, faster then it will break your bones. The hell described in Dante's Inferno delivers a general punishment for a general sin, it doesn't really punish the person but instead the sin committed.

Yeah I think that quote describes hell. Its a place where we cannot escape once we enter so we have to abandon our hopes. I like how Sang pointed out that it is beyond our imagination because no one actually experienced hell. We imagine based on what we heard or read about hell.

I also think that quote really explains how the hell is, and it really scared me. Honestly, till now, I haven't thought of, or I should say believed in the existence of the underworld, hell or any other afterlife concepts. So as I read Dante's Inferno, I started to have more specific image of hell and those afterlife concepts. And as we talked about this quote in class, this quote shows how we should give all our "bright" hopes when we enter the gate of hell since it would be worse than anything I imagine.

ya. I think everyone who enters hell would lose hope without any attempt to keep it. they would be demolished by the Satan and become part of them. the thing that scares me most about hell is that it is eternal. thinking of it makes me to ponder about the purpose of my life and how I should live.

I think the quote is a right interpretation of what hell will look like. I think there would be no hope getting out as well as hope of having a better life. Also I can picture pain whenever I think about hell. Therefore, I think the quote is an accurate description of what hell will be like.

yes, because, first, what are the reasons why you go to hell? it is because one deserved it, and he or she deserved to go to hell. go since you deserve it u dont deserve to have the things you want, so before going to hell, leave your hope, because you dont deserve it

yes but its not my choice to decide whether am i eligible to go or sent to hell despite all what dante's interpretation of hell. because if there isnt hell than there wont be heaven so. i guess dante's interpretation was very effective because there are people who knew what they did in their life which are the sins deserve to be sent to hell for their punishment.

We are afraid of hell, who doesn't? It's not hard to imagine hell. It's a place when you and your best friend being tortured together for what you have done wrong when you were alive. It is a new level of pain where the hell of fire is thousand times hotter than the sun. When you walk in there, you will be destroyed by the devil and you will feel the pain that you haven't felt. For he who said that you will get used to the pain, you won't. You'll get healed and you'll get burned again. That's how awful hell is~

It does make me afraid of hell. I think everyone has their own interpretations of hell and I vision hell a bit differently from Dante. However I do think it is a good interpretation.

I agree that there are many imagery in Dante Inferno. I also felt scared when I read "abandon all hope, you who enter here" too. This kind of imagery of scary quotes make the hell very scary place and the story very scary. Also, I think the quotes and descriptions are all similar and is correct interpretation of hell.

Yea I'd have to say that "abandon all hope, you who enter here" scared me because Dante used descriptive details to portray a certain image of hell. When I read this part, I was definetly afraid because the story itself is scary.
