I think the scariest aspect of hell is that it's infinite. You'd think after a billion years it would get a little better but, no, just another billion years after that. And one more after that. It boggles our mind because it breaks all concept of time that we understand and that's terrifying.

I'm not worried because I'm going to heaven, but I think that line represents the horrors of hell very well. That one line "Abandon all hope" just shows us how once we get into hell, we have no chance of getting out of the eternal torture.

I also got scared a bit when I first read because the hell was described very well compared to other literature works. And at some point, the punishment and the seven levels of hell makes sense together for the society during that time. For me, this quote seems to give the souls, who were assigned to the Hell, an advice: it is better to not to hope for anything good in the beginning. And i agree with Sageda. Infinite punishment is the thing that scares me the most.

Yes i believe it truly describe the actual happenings of hell. it basically tells you right away that once you're in, there's no exit, no help, no hope of getting relief. That quote definately does make me fear hell a lot because when i portray the day of judgment and getting into hell, it total creeps me out how helpless every sinner would be...and i could be one of them ....yaiks .....HAAALLLPPP

I also think it is the right description of hell. After reading this, it made me scared and if I were Dante, I would not want to enter hell.

I think the quote accurately depicts hell as well. Reading about hell certainly makes me scared and hope that I never end up in a place with eternal suffering.

I think I've always been afraid of hell so that particular sign doesn't really mean anything to me. But it does give an idea of what kind of place hell is! It shows that its as bad as everyone thinks it is. It is a good interpretation for hell.

Reading the 'Inferno' also made me feel afraid of death and the possibility that I may end up in hell. Even though I knew from the beginning that going to hell would be torturous, after reading the Inferno, I was just afraid of dying at all. Good thing about reading this though was that I felt that I should live a better life in order to stay in heaven.

Well, i'm not really afraid of death because we will eventually will die and people can't stop it. the problem is the way people die. Some will die by disease, some will die by getting murder, some will by die by car accident and so on. these process is what i'm afraid about and since we don't know that it will come, I would just live my live like poem seize the day.

The description itself did not scare me that much because just reading about hell does not scare me. I think actually seeing and experiencing the real hell would scare me. However, I would not want to enter the hell where punishment lasts forever. I also think that the quote is the correct interpretation of hell because pain in hell is everlasting with no chance of escape or mercy.

It does disturb me but I don't agree with Dante's idea how people get sent to different level of hell depending on what kind of sin they committed. I think all sins are equal and they all should get same punishment. However, according to Dante, there are some sins that are better than other which I don't agree with. However, I still think Dante did a good job describing hell in a horrible way.

I don't think that Dante's depiction of hell was very accurate. The layers of hell were based on his personal beliefs of what sin was worse, and technically in Christianity, it is believed that all sin is sin and equally as bad. Also, hell does scare me. The concept of being the thing that destroys my hope, pain and torture aside, is the worst part personally for me.

How can you have hope when you already know that this is the place you have to live in forever? There is no escape from hell, and it was smart to abandon all sorts of hope.

I do think that Dante interperted hell very well because this guy made me scared of death and hell too. I never thought about dying nor after life but after reading this story, it made me to have different thoughts and perspectives. I feel like i have to start living even nicer than right now and start attending church every Sunday.

Dante really scared the hell out of me. He depicted Hell pretty well. Its basically the same Hell in our religion. It made me fell more responsible for things to look out for that might put me to Hell. I don't want to end up in Hell. Oh, Hell no!
