why did you guys hesiated when ms boyd told you to sit on the dirt?
why did you say dirty?
it is a true nature and you think it is dirty?
what do you think the poet trying to teach YOu?
when i was young i played very well with dirt. i made house out of it for ant family. as i grew up i was far away from park and playground. i was to busy to play and feel the nature. these days i like manmade road more than true nature. which is wrong but i hate dirt on my shoes and clothes. as i read the poem i thought i was too off from a true nature. and they provide everything for us.

I think having a class on thr dirt was silly. I did not get why we had to sit on a dirt to be one with nature

Me too!! I heard from my parents that I really liked playing with dirt and stuff. I always smelled like the "outside smell", if you know what I mean. But now I rarely want to sit on the dirt or touch it. I guess I am out of touch with nature. But I don't think it's that much of a sad thing. I still appreciate nature from time to time, and it's not like I actively go around killing nature or harming the environment

Well we are highly influenced by consumerism basically. And we are not close to nature because THERE'S NO TIME FOR IT plus i dont see nature around me. The fact that we have been away from nature for so long makes us forget its importance and we start considering it dirty due to our change of perspective on what's clean for us and whatnot.

I thought that it was relaxing. I personally didn't hesitate when she told us to sit on the ground but I saw others hesitating and I think it was because they were not used to just having contact with nature. It was reasonable since we live in a technological society and in the city. I thought that the poets were trying to teach us that we've become oblivious to our surroundings.

I think that we have been too used to the life without the contact with nature and we have been brainwashed by the society to connect earth and forest ground as dirty because it might be full of insects and bugs. In addition, it is hard for us to become connected with nature and get used to it since we live in city. It might have been different if we have lived in countryside. The author was trying to remind us that nature is present and we take it for granted. We should respect it instead of destroying it.

Its been a long time since I went to a park and sat down on the dirt. It wasn't a usual thing to me anymore. The first thing that came up into my mind was bugs crawling on my legs and my pants getting dirty. I don't think nature is durty but I don't feel comfortable playing with dirt and bugs as I did in my childhood.

I hesitated when Ms. Boyd told us to sit on the ground because there were many bugs on the ground. It is dirty because bacteria and unknown substances are on the soil. Like Sojoung said, children like to play outside in nature. This is because they do not know anything about germs, bacteria, and poisonous insects. So I think the poet was trying to teach us that we need appreciate nature more than materialistic things.

I did not want to sit on the ground because first of all I was afraid my pants are going to become dirty and also I saw ants crawling there. We seem to be forgetting about nature since we are too apart from it these days. I think the poet is telling us not to forget the existence of nature and what it has done for us.

I hesitated because I didn't want to wash my clothes and I didn't want my mom to nag me of how dirty my clothes were.

I see what you mean sojoung. When i was little, i used to play on the dirt all the time. And i wasnt scared of touching worms and insects, and i remember having such a fun time playing with nature. But after a while, i started to be seperated from nature, and i guess soon i started worrying about other things. The poem did teach me to appreciate nature more, and get in touch with my child side that loves to play with nature and isnt scared to touch it.

When I was young I played with dirt and playing in the playground too. I wasn't even afraid of touching ants or caterpillars. But now, I like freak out when I see insects of any kind. As i grew up, I began to grow out of these things. I hated bugs and insects and getting my clothes dirty with dirt or sand was the last thing I wanted to do. However, I don't think i don't appreciate nature because I like taking long walks in parks at night. I like going to the parks to see the grass and flowers.

I usually played a lot in the sand on playground. But I hesitated when ms Boyd told us to sit on the dirt because usually I never have sat on the dirt where we have sat on Tuesday. It was not usual for me to sit in the dirt as no one just sit on the dirt on normal days and enjoy. I said little dirty because it was a place where people do not go through and have many dust. The poem is teaching as like to be harmony with nature.

I don't really think it was all that dirty. There was enough leaves on the ground to sit on so that we didn't really sit in actual dirt. I just didn't like the fact that there were bugs there because I don't really like bugs. I think that the poet is just saying that we should enjoy what nature has provided us with and what's around us. I think it's nice to enjoy nature once in awhile.
