So, I got Russia as my country and i really liked it. While I was researching Russia I listened to some of it's traditional music and i thought it was amazing. From the Soviet Choir to Russian Folk Songs; I really felt their history through their songs.
Anyways, what was the favorite part of the culture you had to research?
Both songs just scream out Russia.

My stories were trickster tales of Ashanti people from Ghana. I liked the way their most popular cultural hero, Anansi, is the model for humans. He is praised for scattering the wisdom to people and teaching it. Meanwhile, his bad and greedy behavior is also considered to be a lesson for humans so that they would not do the same thing.

I did a research on the French people and one of the most interesting fact was that the battle of roncevaux was in fact the first battle the French were defeated over in the last 40 years. i guess that the emperor was so great at ruling the country that they have never been defeated before.

I had the same story as Joanne so I researched the Ashanti people. They valued the storytelling culture so they wanted their stories to be told to the next generation. The Ashinti people did not value much of materials, but instead they liked bravery and strength. They believed that wisdom is stronger than the physical strength.

I thought that asking each individual kids about their own experiences for growing up as a Muslim was interesting. My story was the Quran, so it was inevitable that I had to interview some of the kids on their experiences. That was really interesting because that gave me insight on how their lives worked as Muslim and it wasn't just about their history but it really shows the modern effects of the Quran on Muslims. So that was the most interesting thing about my project.

Mine was a little boring. It was Hapsburg Spain and it was really annoying having to research all the complicated power structures and rulers and wars and just bleghhhh. But the Spanish Inquisition and Golden Age was also part of my history so it was cool. I think the most interesting was that even though the economy in 16-17th century Spain was declining, arts were on the rise.
