I also think that women's status became better over time but not completely equal with men. Now, women can have education and work outside, when women in the past stayed at home and were often considered as properties. However, gender discrimination still exists in today's society, but it is really subtle. There is a research that shows that women are less likely to get promoted and receive higher salary than men. There are also still some countries where women are abused and oppressed by men.

www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Opinion/2013/0102/India-gang-rape-Why-US-should-ratify-UN-treaty-on-women-s-rightsI just found an article about how women are still struggling for their rights. This articles has written just 17 hours ago, which shows how it is a continuous issue around the world from back then. This article says that the gang raped an Indian university student and led her to the subsequent death. And this sparked protests against changing laws and cultural views on women, saying that the United States should ratify the United Nations ¡°bill of rights¡± for women. So as I could easily found article about how women are still struggling, it should still be considered as a big deal in society.

That gender role we see in Doll's house is also still going on in many other developing nations. Countries like Afghanistan and India are big examples of that. My mom told me that when she was flying on the plane to go to Afghanistan, she had to wear a cloth around her head and ride in a small container like place inside the plane with all the other women. In India, girls are forced into marriage and become pregnant, and when she has child birth problems, the men throw her away. Still, cultural problems like these exist, and I think we can talk about that too when we talk about sexism in the modern age.

Joon clearly illustrated how women nowadays are treated. Incidents like this mostly occurs in the third world nations. Even though women's role in the society has grown pretty much in the past century, women discrimination has not completely been eliminated all together. There are number of cases where women are treated inhumanely and no actions are taking place against it.

Honestly, i agree that we still see discrimination against women in todays society as well. Compared to past, the discrimation decreased a lot but we still see in many parts of the world where women are still seen as less valuable than men. Not everywhere in the world though. lately we see women that are strong and have power. I think that it would take quite some time for both women and men to be completely equal but as time passes it gets better little by little.
