throughout the story, we see Achilles and Hector fighting nonstop. Achilles fights for glory and revenge while Hector fights for his country and family.
Which character do you prefer? Are there any characters that you can relate to? If so, why?

Of course i prefer Achilles... the strongest warrior ever. Since he is half god and half human, his only weakness is is achilles... I don't know if i was impressed by the moive Troy, but Achilles is so much better than Hector. I mean, Achilles kills Hector later on which means that Achiiles is stronger than Hector. Well i think i can connect myself to Achilles when i am on the soccer field. I want to be the strongest player on the field like how strong Achilles is in the battle field. I want to be at the top of everyone so that everyone becomes afraid of me.

I prefer Hector who fights for his country and family. I was able to relate Hector with the Korean guys who go to the military. Although the Korean guys are not actually fighting right now in war, they are fighting for the same thing. They are also fighting for their country and family like Hector.

i prefer Achilles because he is the strongest solider in the war. Even though Hector fought for his country, he gets killed by Achilles anyway. Men always want to be stronger than others and Achilles is the strongest one. I wish i can be have strength of Achilles so that i can do whatever i want, or even become arrogant as Achilles. Even though Achilles gets killed later, he is remembered as strongest warrior in history.

I prefer Hector over Achilles because he wasn't morally corrupt like Achilles. He wasn't greedy, ill-tempered, and cruel. Hector sacrificed his life so that his country, his people, and his family would be safe. He is the one who truly deserves honor and respect.

I will choose to be Achilles. However, I wouldn't kill Hector if I was Achilles. Hector was a good guy who should live on the earth. I think killing a person for revenge is nonsense. Patriclus won't be happy or even know it. And that won't comfort me either. It's better to save Hector and ask him to repent forever.

I prefer Hector over Achilles. He fights for his country instead of revenge like Achilles. Hector is protrayed as a good father and a good husband so I liked his character better than Achilles. Even though Achilles was stronger than Hector, and he was able to kill him, that doesn't mean that hes a better person than Hector. Hector knew that he would die because of his destiny but he did not run away. I think he was brave enough to fight.

Even though Hector seems more caring, family person, who fights/cares for his family and country, I think Achilles is better hero. Achilles is half god, who must be the strongest. Because of this, I thought he is powerful and brave hero, superior to 100% human Hector. Even before Hector appears in Illiad, I've always had good image of Achilles, who has always fought for his country as well. As I believe Achilles was the strongest one, I prefer Achilles.

I prefer Hector. For me, Hector seemed like someone, who would be ready to sacrifice for his family and for his country. Achilles is also someone, who would fight for the country. However, he changes his mood and his ambition very suddenly, and even left the Greek army in the middle of the war after he had fight with the king Agamemnon. I don't think that Hector would do that. In fact, Hector would have done everything for the king and still gone out to fight.

I agree with the people who said they liked Hector more. I prefer Hector, because he is braver. Even though Hector knew he would die, he continued to fight regardless of what happened to him. For Hector, his country and family mattered more to him than himself. On the other hand, all Achilles cares about is revenge and his own benefits. This is why I like Hector more than Achilles.

I like Hector more than Achilles, but I think I can relate to Achilles better. I'm not as noble as Hector, so I don't think I would want to fight and die for my own country. I would if it were just my family, but not for my country. Even if I did fight it wouldn't be much help to them anyways because I would get killed right away. It's easy to judge Achilles because he looks like the bad guy that wants all the fame and stuff, but I think that's how I would act if I were in his situation. I would want to revenge my closest friend's (or cousin or whatever he is) death if I had the ability to kill someone right off the bat. I don't know about the glory part though. I don't really care if I get glory or not. It'd be great if I did but it'd still be okay if I didn't.

I like Hector a lot more. That's a given for me because Achilles is fighting for selfish reasons while Hector is fighting for the betterment of those close to him. I'd like to think I am more like Hector because I think he is more noble of a character. But, I think I fall in between. I think I would fight for both myself and those close to me.

I prefer Hector because he cares for his family and although he is a great warrior, he isn't arrogant. Also, he has these two sides of him that is a warrior and a dad and I feel like Achillies just has his arrogant warrior side. I can't really relate to any of the characters but I feel like if I were to ever fight I would do it for people that I care about because I don't really care about glory.

I like Achilles. He went against Agamemnon whom he served for many years. Achilles was brave enough to fight Agamemnon when the king showed his evil&arrogant side. Hector cares for his family, but he valued his country more than own family-and that's why he still went to fight on the battlefield. But everyone knew that Hector was going to get killed, and Hector himself was aware of that. So I think he's a bit foolish in some sense. His baby son is not going to have a father for the rest of his life just because Hector chose to be a warrior more than a father. Achilles rules.

I like Hector more than Achilles because Hector accepts his fate and fights for his country and family. Meanwhile, Achilles is an arrogant and short-tempered demi-god who greedily chases Hector for revenge. It is not even like Hector killed Achilles's friend for a personal reason; it is a war, where someone kills other person. Achilles should know that his friend might be killed by Hector. While reading the book, Achilles reminded me of Paul Lazarro from Slaughterhouse 5 who desperately survives the war to violently revenge his war buddy, while the victim did not really cause the death. However, he still thinks that he is being heroic and glorious.
