As we learn in our backgrounds about ancient times such As mesopotamia and egypt. We hear about empires, and They eventually decline. What do younthink is the main cause of the empires falling? I think is due to the leaders where people start to rebel and Eventually the leader cant control it

As we discussed in class today, empires fall due to internal conflicts, weak leadership, natural disasters, warfare, or block from trade. The chinese empire fell because the size was too great, and the opium problem caused the citizens to be very weak and unable. This caused internal weakness, allowing outsiders to weaken China. The Roman Empire fell because of weak leadership and outside invasions. Such examples in history show some causes of empires falling.

As Joon mentioned above, there are many different reasons why empires fall. Most common reason that we discussed in class is invasion from other tribes. When empire last for too long, it naturally lose its power and they are not able to resist against outward invasion. Empire can also fall due to internal conflicts between leaders who are blinded by power and wealth. History shows countless examples why one empire fell.

There is no empire that can last forever... I think empire fall because other army invade to take over their land. there are many reasons why empire fall like conflict inside and no food can be a good reason. I know that if king or leader do not care about their people, empire goes down and eventaully fall..

I think the main reason why empires decline is because of the fall in power. The power can disappear, because enemies intruded the territory. Also, when there is less resource than the population, power can fall. Thirdly, natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes can make an empire decline.

I think an empire crumbles when people in a particular society rebel, or when another group of people attack and invade them.

Well the fall of an empire have many causes such as natural disaster, invasion, lack of resources, and etc. these three factors are the basic things that would come to mind when thinking about the fall of an empire.

There are a lot of reasons that causes an empire to fall. This includes the mother nature, takeover from foreign nations, embargoes, cruel dictatorship and other negative externalities. Internal conflicts such difference in language, culture and religion within a same society may lead the nation to tear apart as well.

I think many causes make an empire fall. I don't there is one single cause when an empire falls. But I do agree with you that the most common causes are weak leaders. Weak leaders commonly lead to rebellions. However I think there are usually many causes that contribute to a empire to fall.

I agree with cathy. It is impossible to say that this particular main reason caused the empire to fall because throughout the history, empires fell for many different reasons. Causes could include diseases, famine, internal instability, weak monarchs, wars and conquests, and natural catastrophes. However, commonly, empires decline because of rebellions and weak monarchs.

There are so many reasons why empires fall, ranging from disease to war. I think the majority of reasons why empires fall is a lack of food and nutrients. Back in those times, retrieval of food was crucial as agriculture was the main preoccupation of the majority of empires. Without food, the citizens will starve and be unable to work, which may cause the slow fall of an empire.

I think the main cause of decline of empires is weakness of the leader. When I took history, I found out that many empires fell because of the death of the leaders or unstability due to the weak rulers. After the empires became weak, invaders came and this entirely led to the fall.

Like many said, I think empires fall usually because of fights within the empire. This usually happens because the leader is weak and has no power in the empire. Also, empires easily fall during the time when leaders are being changed.

I think the main thing that causes instabilty in an empire is the balance of power. usually most porblems come form either an incompetent king or an unhappy people. Both canbe resolved by balancing the scales of power. On one side you have the king who is not doing is job for whatever reaosn and is makin his people upset. This ruler is abusing his power and therefore should have less. How do you do this? simple, give the people more power. If the people have more power then they will have the ability to take down an incompetent king. How will this not be exploited? because the majority will rule and decide who is the incompetent king.
