I think POL and LAR might hav a typical father son relationship. But they don't seem to express emotions much. But the fact that there is no mother in the picture means that their family might be very tightly-knit. I think the most important thing in a father-son relationship is for the father to show affection and not being so harsh all the time. Oh, and to talk to their sons without lecturing them all the time. A lot of fathers have trouble doing that.

I also think that the father and son relationship is important as well. No matter how my father tries, there are still some boundaries that we can never cross because of our gender difference; I feel more comfortable talking with my mom, than with my dad in certain situations. So I think guys would feel the same with their fathers. I think the most ideal father and son relationship would be friendly but still respectful one. They can have a friendly relationship but not too friendly since father can never be your father.

I agree that parent and child relationship, including father and son one, is important. For a child, a parent should a role model who gives much care and love. I would say Polonius and Laertes are like other parents and children...it is good that Polonius gives much of wise life advice to his son before he leaves. However, Polonius does not seem to trust his son much and spies on him since young Laertes can act recklessly and may get bad reputation. I think they have a normal relationship like parents and teenaged kids.

I think Polonius and Laertes showed a good relationship as father and son. I think a good father should be supportive and giving helpful advices to his son because a son learns a great deal from his parents, especially from his father since they are the same gender. In return, a son should be also be supportive and respectful to his father.

As mentioned before, I think that respect is always involved in this good relationship. Without respect, you can't expect to have any profound, intimate relationship, as we clearly saw in the doll's house. I think that it's only fair for both father and son to have a mutual respect. It's a crucial element to a successful relationship.

I guess that the relationship between father and son may be even more important than the relationship between a father and a daughter. Since the two are same gender, father may be able to give better advice on how to behave to a son. Likewise, if a father was to give a similar advice to a daughter, it may be more difficult since he would not exactly know how women should act in certain situations.

I think the mutual father and son relationship is well portrayed in Hamlet through Polonius and Lartes. Lartes leaves abroad for his studies abroad and Polonius giving him typical fatherly advices to his son and Polonius ordering his servant to go and watch over his son. Lartes seeking revenge on Claudius whom he thinks had murdered his father. These factors in the story would be the ideal father and son relationships during the time period.

I think having mutual respect and trust are very important between a father and son relationship. I think this is important between all relationships. However, I don't think Polonius trusts Laertes. I see that Polonius is simply trying to look out for his son but still, I don't know if this is a "good" father and son relationship.

For me, a good relationship between father and son would be when they trust each other and know that they are there for each other when they have bad times. A father could lecture his son something useful but he should not forget that his son is also trying his best in what his son wants to do. Also a son should respect his father and his decision because his father could know what is best for him. Also a father should listen to the opinions of his son and not just disregard them.

I think a good father and son's relationship is a relationship based on honesty. I think honesty is important in order to have trust. Trust is important to have a long lasting relationship. It is also essential to have a relationship where the father and the son can relay on each other when they need help. Basically, I think a good father and son's relationship is similar to a good friendship.

I think Polonious Laertes really do have a good relationship with each other. I think it is better than Polonious's relationship with Ophelia because Polonious ended up using her for his own personal plans that caused her pain. Like any other family relationships, father and son bond is really important. Sons go through a lot growing up and that father figure can really help the son with advice ans even with just loveandcare. I've noticed that kids who had abusive fathers or bad relationships with their parents sometimes have more problems when they grow up.

I think both of them have mutual relationship to one another. Polonius cares about his son and so sends a guardian angel to see through his son's troubles and to make sure that he doesn't go out of control. But, unfortunately when he is killed and Laertes finds about it, he just goes crazy and turns into battlemode. So, yeah, every man should have a good understanding with their daddy because he provides you in need of help.

I think that it is incredibly important for a son and father to have an intimate relationship. I like the relationship between Polonius and his son because they both respect each other simply more than a regular family member. A good father is at times a good friend and at others he is a strict dictator.
