Now that we're finally graduating, I thought it was a good idea for our english class to share what our favorite piece of literature was. We went through a lot of different stories for the past two years.
What was your favorite piece of literature?
Personally, my favorite one was "Rose for Emily" which was a story that we learned last year. It's my favorite because it was so weird and creepy that I can never forget about it.

My favorite was The Pillow Book, which was my project piece. It was really interesting to know that women held a lot of power during the 8th~11th century of Japan, and the author's witty quotes and ideas made me giggle a lot. I think it was my first time enjoying a story that I'm forced to read. Sei Shonagon's quotes were easy to connect to the real world, and her observations gave me a better idea of what the people valued during that time.

My favorite piece of literature was "the World on the Turtle's Back." It was my first creation myth that I heard besides those from the bible and Korean folktale. I was interested that someone thought up the idea of the world being created on the back of a turtle.

My facorite was "Masque of the Red Death" by Edger Allen Poe. It shows the dark side of humanity. I usually don't like dark gloomy stories but I felt like this story was special. The seven rooms all had meanings to the color and the huge clock was also impressive. The way that the rooms were placed was deep. It was to describe on how we cannot see what is after one room, which is life. We can't predict life.

My favorite piece of literature was the poem that I was assigned as the fourth quarter project for last year. It was called anyone lived in a pretty how town by e.e. cummings. I think it was a really interesting poem because it was so different from all the literature that we analyzed in class.

My favorite piece of literature was Dante's Inferno. I really loved studying that piece of literature, and I respect the author and admire his style of writing. I love how Dante's Inferno has so much symbolism and metaphorical images that we can't really spot out unless we think about the writing deeply.

My favorite piece of literature was also a Rose for Emily. I really liked the twist in the end. It really did shock me and gave me a very strong impression.

My favorite literature piece would be The lay of the werewolf because it was the easiest thing to read. It was written in simple tone and you do not have to worry about the literary terms since they were not that deep. Above all, I enjoyed the story as the were-wolf served as the hero rather than an anti-hero.

We studied so many different kinds of literature this year and all of them were entertaining. If i have to select my favorite piece of literature, i will say Heroic literature. I like Gilgamesh especially because he reminds of this strong warrior. I am looking forward to study more pieces of literature in the future.

I really liked The Raven. I just liked how eery and sad it was.. I also loved how it rhymed. One of the best rhymes I've ever heard/read. It was just so flowy. I also liked the really deep symbolism but mostly the imagery. The dark winter night, the fireplace, the bird, the sound of the tapping. I'm scaring myself just thinking about it lol
