Recently, the CEO of Abercrombie&Fitch said that he doesn't want any plus sized people wearing his clothes, so the clothing brand doesn't carry the size XL or XXL. He basically doesn’t want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people. He doesn’t want his core customers to see people who aren’t as hot as them wearing his clothing. People who wear his clothing should feel like they’re one of the ‘cool kids.’
The CEO got into a lot of trouble, and the U.S sales for the brand plummeted over the week. But I see people in Korea wearing Abercrombie and Hollister like crazyyy.
Why do you think Koreans are obsessed with this particular brand? And what do you think their response would be to this incident?

I think they just think that it looks stylish. I don't think that its specifically only Abercrombie and Fitch that they are obsessed with. They like other stuff too, like Hollister. And, honestly, I don't think they would care much at all. Korean stores already offer tiny sizes, and bigger folk can't really find clothes anywhere in Korea.

I know that Abercrombie and Fitch became a popular topic in Korea since this owner is racist and idiot. However, i really dont care if Koreans wear hollister, Abercrombie or whatever. Why should they be blamed by wearing these clothes? They bought it with their own money because they wanted to. Koreans should start to mind their own businesses.

Korean people are obsessed with this brand because its foreign I feel like. I think they like anything that makes them more western than Korean. I don't think the Korean people have really heard about it so it hasn't really affected them yet. But I feel like they are going to be really angry when they hear about this incident. I think this CEO really shouldn't have said stuff like that especially to the public.

I think Koreans are obsessed with anything that other people are obsessed about. It's all a fad, and just like every other fad, it's going to fade away someday. Koreans are obsessed with A&F and Hollister because they think it's "American" for them to wear those kinds of stuff. And I don't think Koreans know about what the CEO said about skinny people being cool. Actually, even if they did, I feel like they would buy it even more.

I know that Koreans wear Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister a lot but I don't think people should not care much about what people are wearing. Many stores are created in Korea for that kinds of clothes which make people to wear more like Abercrombie and Fitch. Also it was a trend before that these shirts are cheap and comfortable, so I think it was the reason why it became popular.

I think Koreans would still wear them. Maybe they might not wear it for a short period of time, but they might eventually wear it again after a few months.

I think Koreans are obsessed with Abercombie and Fitch because many celeberties wear it. Its a casual style so everyone can wear it daily. koreans would probably continue to wear it as long as they have the right size that fits them.

i dont know, but i dont personally see any attractive-ness? in Abercrombie and Fitch or some brands like that. i dont know, i think its just simply not my style at all. i hate people who wear clothes for its name or brand. i think those arent even that unique. but people still wear it just because of the trend and stuffs, which i really hate it.

I think a lot of their stuff is really cute, but it is a bit mainstream. I tend to stay away from the shirts and pants that simply say Abercrombie on them, or something like that.

I think that it gives them the idea of being "American" which is essentially something like a "dream" almost. I think that the westernization process has really had its way in Korea and maybe that's perhaps why they wear it so much. Also, the baseball hats like the NY yankees and such are also very prevalent in Korea. And I think that had the same effect as these brands of Fitch and Hollister has had on Korea.

Yeah! I heard about this thing as well! You know whats really ironic is that I heard the CEO of Abercrombie is also a plus sized fellow himself! WHAT A HYPOCRITE!! I hate people who discriminate body sizes. I think this move was not a smooth move and the only thing it did was make Abercrombie look bad and lower the self esteem of many beautiful people out there. You know what? Its not all about looks and its not all about size. What matters is what kind of person you are in the inside. Just strut cho stuff girls!
