There has to be someone who created them, an omniscient, an omnipotent. A more superior being than Hancock and Mary, God maybe. He gave them the option to chose either to live or die and may had the idea of what will become of if these two paired up. To avoid any circumstances, God have made these choices up. And one other thing really did play an important role, to see the power of love. What love is really about and that is one part of the mortal aspect. Gotta follow the rules!

like many mentioned i think that it was sad that they couldnt end up together, but again like many said, if "reproducing more baby gods" will make a world more controlled and dominated by poeple who have powers, than maybe that could be a negative thing becasue thats where many come and become the bad ones.

in this situation, demi god shall make a decision whether they want to be demi god or a human. Love is a human characteristic where you have such a feeling that makes you cant focus on what youre doing but one person you love. In my opinion, i would say that thats why demi god cant be paired up with each other so that they could focus on what theyre doing

I think that is the negative part of being superhuman and immortal. As gods come closer, they lose power that they choose to be separated and lonely. In addition, having no emotions, including loneliness, is actually one of the superhuman characteristics. Meanwhile, normal people can always be close with people they love and have a nice time together. Just like Siduri from the Epic of Gilgamesh said, having family as a mortal human makes a happy life. The movie Hancock again shows that being immortal does not bring a happy life since gods cannot be together with their own kinds.

That's pretty cool how u derived a theory like that from the story of Adam and Eve. I think that does make logical sense and that it does fall conveniently with the movie and its contents. It explains what they sacrificed, and in a way I think it was a good choice for them to be separate because now Earth has a hero that can protect the planet.

Choices we have to make in life. We can't have everything so i guess that is hancocks choice eventhough he did not remember anything and when he had a choice i guess he would choose love rather than having superpower. Me either i mean having superpower and living forever isn't fun. You can do good things but how boring is that to live forever.

Thats what i was thinking as well. This connect so much to Genesis. What happen if they pair up, have kids, being the strongest one in the universe and control the world? Maybe a god did the right thing to make sure no one is ever stronger than he is so that it is much easier to control the world.

I think the gods that made Hancock and Mary thought that they should either get to live as lonely superheroes or as a loving, mortal couple. They can't have both. That'd be giving them too much. I think they also thought that if the two superpowers got together, it would be too dangerous for the humans. It's good that Hancock and Mary are nice people, but what if they were really mean, evil people? If they both could keep their powers, then they would be more dangerous than they would be alone. So I think the gods made that like an insurance policy thingy. Just to make sure that the superpower guys wouldn't be messing up the whole world with their powers.

I think this can be connected to Gilgamesh and Enkidu at ¡°The epic of Gilgamesh.¡± One of them must die by the god¡¯s decision because they were dominating the world with their powers. Therefore, in Hancock, I think the god decided to not let two super heroes to pair up as they might dominate the world. Also, if they give birth then, there might be one more superhero baby and grow up as superhero like Hancock. Therefore, god made them not to pair up as the world will full of superhero long time later.
