I really can't imagine a god sleeping. Closing his eyes and slowly exhaling and inhaling does not seem to match with the behaviors of a god. I thought that a god's job was to watch over the people 24/7 and monitor their every act.

This is a funny topic to discuss about if the Gods sleep or not. I mean i personally think that gods sleep but they shouldn't. When the Gods that i know in my perspective they should not sleep because they should look out for the humans and animals and anything that is going on the earth in order to make it keep cycling.

I just realized that in polytheistic religions, gods have flaws and they are not all-powerful. So, the gods make mistakes and that blurs the line between human and god. For example, the gods in Popol Vuh had to make many attempts at creating humans because they didn't know how. Also, the gods in Gilgamesh trembled when the storm came because they didn't know how bad it would be. So most people in our class, who are monotheistic, believe that the gods shouldn't be sleeping because that represents a flaw. This is because our only god can't have any flaws or our world would be doomed.

I think gods do sleep. They are portrayed as humans with super powers. However I think the amount of sleep they get differs with us. Although they do resemble us, I don't think they would act exactly like us.

I don't think gods need sleep. If they did, what would be the difference between human beings and gods? They should be using their time for better things, like watching over humans and stuff. What if something happens when their asleep? Who's going to take care of that? I wouldn't want to worship gods who sleep anyways. They shouldn't need to sleep because they have enough energy at all times.

I don't think they do... because they asked Gilgamesh to stay up 6 days and 7 nights to become immortal. This is like a test to become a god but since he failed, he wasn't able to. In order to become a god, I think they shouldn't sleep and also they is their pain I guess heheheh Sleeping is like the most important and most relaxing time.

I don't think that gods sleep. Why would they need to if they are all powerful? In Gilgamesh a human trait of Gilgamesh was that he couldn't fight his desire to sleep and keep awake. I think this shows that gods do not need to sleep because they don't feel tired.

I don't think that the gods sleep. They don't need it because they are immortal and they can function normally without it. But I think the gods should sleep. They probably have nothing to do with their lives. I can't imagine being awakr 24/7 and having nothing to do with my life. I think sleep would kill sometime at least.

I think Gods should sleep, because everyone has a right too. Even humans sleep so why not gods?

I don't know, I would want to believe that god do sleep though. Because i believe that God watch over the world and the universe 24/7. Honestly, since people spend one third of their sleeping, sleep is a very important part in everyones life. Since God has duty to protect people, i think he shouldn't be sleeping

In a epic gods described like human.
but i think god should not sleep.
they might have a rest lie down on a big soft cloud but shoud be in charge of keeping the world quiet in peace.
otherwise world might go around out of control.

I think Gods shouldn't sleep. They are not someone like us, who need to sleep and get rest, and they should be omnipresent along with us to protect us. What if there is something serious happening but they are sleeping? It would be funny.. But as you said, I realized that Gods in Gilgamesh depicted more like humans who interact with people, and thus it was possible for them to sleep in the story.

I think gods shouldn't sleep, but it seems like the gods in The Epic of Gilgamesh sleep because they have human characteristics. For example, the gods regret killing all of the people with the flood. Regret is clearly a human trait. It shows imperfection and foolishness. Plus, gods shouldn't sleep because they are supposed to listen to our prayers, protect us, discipline us, love us, help the needy, and heal the sick. They don't even have the time in the world to sleep.

I also think gods are not supposed to sleep because they should always take care of us and watch the world. For us, gods are superhuman that it seems they can be well without sleep. However, we do not know how gods are that we cannot assume that they do not sleep. Perhaps they sleep and somehow manage to control the world. For gods from the Epic of Gilgamesh, I guess they might sleep like humans-they share other human characteristics, and one of those qualities can be need for sleep.

first i would have to belieave that gods exist, if god was to exist i woulod probably think of them as human like and which have human characteristics, so i would agree that gods do sleep and rest because when god made the earth in the 7th day he rest
