so in gilga, enlil was asleep but people disturbed him so he brought flood to the earth. do you think gods sleep? I think gods in gilgamesh do sleep since they are portrayed as being more like humans so since they are share similar aspects such as emotions with humans i think they sleep like we do

hahahahahahhaaahhaa. I personally think gods shouldn't sleep. Gods should be protecting humans and the entire world. If they're asleep, who's going to look after us? I think the depictions of gods from the epic shows how the people at that time thought the gods were a lot like humans. God from Genesis is more powerful and dominant comparing to that from Gilgamesh.

I think gods should not sleep because they should see our world, what is going on in our society. Even though gods are portrayed as being more like humans, they should not sleep. Then, it is hard to say they can punish people. Also, I think instead of sleeping, I think they will rest and have similar functions with sleeping. Therefore, the time matters about sleeping. If they sleep short, than it is okay.

Although I find it hard to imagine myself liviing without sleeping, I still agree with Stormy that God's should not sleep since God should be the one that watches over everybody and take care of us. However, Gods still can sleep only in a circumstances that they dream about everybody. So basically they are watching us in their dream. In this way, there is no reason Gods shouldn't sleep!.

I think God doesn't sleep. They live above the sky. How do they know if it's time to sleep or wake up? Also, according to the bible 121:3-4, it says God doesn't sleep. God was said as a soul which doesn't have body, arms, legs and perception.

I think Godss should sleep. As many others would say, Gods are the ones who watch humans and protect ua. But because Gods put alot of efforts, I think it's necessary for them to take a break and sleep.

I definitely think they sleep. Life would be so boring and dull if you were a god and you didnt die. There would be nothing to do. What would you do with the extra time? At least sleep would give them something to do.

I agree with stormy. Gods should not sleep. World has different time zone and if god sleeps, he wont be able to look around the whole world. I mean Gods can sleep if they want to, i just think that they should be some how responsible for watching what is going on in the world.

Gods are given some human characteristics in the story and that is why they sleep I guess.. because sleeping is one of the characteristics of humans. However I think that they should not sleep because something terrible might happen in the world while they are sleeping and they will not be able to notice that. Or else they can just take turns to watch over the world if they want to sleep like that.

I think Gods should indeed sleep because it's good for the soul and good for the heart. I also find sleeping very nutritious to one's health as the digestive system inside the person or god works and the respiratory system as well. Also, one feels refreshed after sleeping, which means that it symbolizes rejuvenation, recovery, rebirth, recreation, re-incarnation, and etc. So I think that for Gods to make right decisions, that sleep or some kind of a stasis moment of peace and quiet recovery is needed. Therefore, gods should sleep. Also, it's a big human quality.

I think Gods can sleep. They have some parts of human so it is possible for them to sleep. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu has a nightmare and this tells us that people in this period put some meanings to their dream. Enkidu was created by Gods so I think Gods also dreamed and slept. Gods need to protect us but always looking over us would be so boring even though its God.

well, honestly sleep is a very important part in everyones life. i mean imagine if we werent allowed to sleep, that would be horrible, cause i love to sleep. Like many people here mentioned, gods "duty" is to protect us, but if gods really do have a choice of sleeping, then they should sleep, because we all have the right to sleep!

I totally think that gods shouldnt sleep because I mean, theyre gods...they should be watching.over everything thats going on like never ending CCTVs! BUT! Because their lives would be so boring to just be watching us all the time, they should have fun too! I mean, they should have like intense parties and chill times and stuff to keep them busy and content I mean, I also think watching.people all day could be fun too! But it aslo sounds really creepy...haha

I think that gods shouldn't sleep... well, I really can't honestly choose what I think. An ideal god would not sleep and keep a close eye on us, but then again, what are we to those gods? Wouldn't we be sort of insignificant to those many gods, when they can just play among themselves and not concern themselves with the small beings on this planet. All they need to do is pop in once in a while and scare us, so we worship or something.

I totally agree with Eli and others as well, Gods shouldn't sleep. Even if they do, then who's gonna take care of what is going on the Universe. I mean it's vast and it is changing every millisecond. Well the gods had created them, it is their responsibility to look after it, isn't it?
