I don't think Gilgamesh is gay. I think it is a bit hasty to say that someone is gay just because he rejected a girl and has a best friend. I think the goddess was just not his type. I don't think Gilgamesh is gay.

You made a good point about it. But when i first read the story it told me that Gilgamesh love his friend. And love it vary between definitions on how you put it.

haha just because he loves his friend, that doesnt necessary mean that he is gay. let me ask you this, Do you love your dad? if you do, are you gay? I must say, Gilgamesh is not gay.

I also don't think that Gilgamesh is gay even though it says that he "loves" his friend. The Epic of Gilgamesh has been translated into English and some words might be different in the past. Maybe that time, when this epic was written, the word "like" did not exist, maybe only the word "love". I am not sure though.

I agree that gilgamesh is probably gay. Loving a friend is a possible thing however, I belive that in the story, gilgamesh has crossed the line of friendship and is actually starting to like his own friend. Friendships can always be strong but, they do not cross the certain line.

I don't think that Gilgamesh is gay. Gilgamesh was actually known to sleep with new brides on their wedding night before their husbands can get to them. I don't think that a gay man would have so much interest in sleeping with women. Also, the friendship just seems to be just a strong bromance. They are so close that they love each other, just as a brother would love a brother, not as a lover would love his other.

i dont think gilgamesh is gay because loving your frnd does not have any meaning i mean at least not is this case. he was known for sleeping with women.

I also don't think he's gay. What I interpreted from the story was that he was just so sad about his friend's death. And I think Gilgamesh is kinda exaggerating about his grief over Enkidu by expressing his feeling as love to gain immortality.

I don't see why he would be gay...That was really random. Like Cathy said, maybe the whole rejecting the girl and guy friend thing tipped you off but that is no reason to assume someone is gay. Neither is anything else for that matter. It's not good to judge so hastily.

No way Gilgamesh could be gay. The love he shows is pure, love for brother. They respect one another and are loyal. If he were to gay, he could end up as a prophet to Gay people........no offense, though.

I don't think Gilgamesh is gay at all. Anybody can love their friend eventhough they are the same sex. I mean I say I love you to to my friends all the time too. It is assuming too much to say that Gilgamesh is gay just because he really cared for his friend Enkidu.
