After watching the video, I agreed in part that heroes are being misused in some cases in today's society. Heroes who are not the real heroes are being depicted as heroes by media and us. These "heroes" include athletes. They often remember and celebrate the heroic moment, but that heroic moment does not qualify one to be a real hero. I believe a real hero should be someone who really thinks and acts for others by taking risks and that heroic heart should always stay within themselves not just for a moment. So heroes in the video are not heroes and Mesopotamian society had different view with me.
As I have mentioned, heroes should be someone who sacrifices himself or herself for others with justice and morale. That is why those superheroes like spiderman and superman are being called as heroes. They sacrifice themselves and take risks to save others. If that hero only thinks about others and just be heroic for that one moment, then that is not a real hero.
The video said in today's society, the word hero is being misused as for like famous athletes. That athlete can be a hero for winning some medals but he or she should take responsibility and really act like a hero with morale. If one does drugs or lies about something, then one is no longer a hero. He or she is just a hero on the surface. So the video actually agrees with my point of view of heroes.
In Mesopotamian society, Gilgamesh is being depicted as hero. But I doubt that he is being a real hero. Yes he did went through a super hard journey with his super powers, but that does not mean he is the actual hero. He is just half-god who has superpowers. So I disagree with Mesopotamian's view on heroes.
In conclusion, heroes are someone who takes risks and sacrifices for others with morale and justice not just for a specific moment. The video really showed that there arent real heroes in today's society and the "hero" , Gilgamesh, in Mesopotamian culture and society is conflicting with the accurate definition of hero.
