i was wondering in the movie Clash of the Titans, the god if i recall correctly that they obtain power and more power from the prayer of the people. and if they stop prayer for them, they will become weak but they are still gods.
So i was wondering that in Popol Vuh, the gods wanted to create humans and want them to pray and worship them.
So my question is: do you think the gods in Popol Vuh have similar idea towards the Gods in the movie Clash of the Titans???
I think that the idea could be similar because gods created human and wanted them to pray for them. and through them they can obtain power.

Wow! You are making a good connection here. I also think that the concepts of both are similar. However I think that in the case of Popol Vuh, the gods would still have the power without the prayers of the humans, but needed them because they want someone to tell them that they did a good job in creating the world. While in the movie Clash of the Titans, the god obtains power from the prayer. So, I think that in Popol Vuh, the gods wanted to have power over someone and show off, and created the humans, as a result.

I personally think the the gods in Popol Vuh just wanted to be worshiped and treated like gods. The story doesn't really explain why the gods wanted to make earth in the first place, so I think the gods just did it on a whim. I think that the gods are similar because they both want their creations to worship them, but the gods in Popol Vuh only want it because they are selfish and greedy. Yes, I don't like the gods in Popol vuh.

I think the gods in both the movie and in the story did want to be worshipped. However, a distinct difference to be noted is that the gods (from the greek myth) often had dissensions while the gods from Popol Vuh didn't. In face, they got along very well, and they worked together, and they showed no sign of obvious arrogance. However, Greek mythology, or the movie 'clash of the Titans showed clear signs of that, showing the distinct difference.

Maybe in the Clash of the Titans the gods are competing for power and the way to obtain it is through praise. I didn't watch the movie so I'm not really sure. Just making assumptions based on what Sang said. I think the Popol Vuh gods saw their status and expected praise. Nothing more than that. They created all living things and gave them life and they expected something simple in return.

I dont think the Gods in the Popil Vuh would lose their power if the humans would not have prayed to them. However, the idea of humans praying to Gods for being their creator does seems quite similar. The whole purpose behind the creation of the humans is to make them realize that they are a weak and powerless nation, which is a way that the Gods use in order to overestimate themselves for being the creator of everything.
