Hinduism has influenced our world in a couple of different ways. I was wondering if you guys have ever seen some of these influences.
I see the concept of karma a lot in the world today. If you do something good, the general belief is that that good action will reap a good benefit and vice versa.
What other ways do you guys see hinduism influence our world?

Yeah I agree that the idea of Karma has shaped a lot of out culture. But that is a general belief and not neccesarily a hindu staple (even though it is). Another thing that i guess can be compared is the cast system. Or maybe the adoration of certain animals.

its kind of small bit but some people who practice Hinduism don't really eat cow because they think cow is like sacred. So instead of eating cow, people find other source of protein to support themselves. For the farmer who sell cow might hate this idea....

The people who bellive in hinduism effected a lot to foreign country. For example when i think of Hinduism i can imagine of a lot of dangerou talents or tricks. They test their body over the fire or sew their body and hang in the air for a while. and i Think these tricks influnced the one who are not een a hinduism.

I think that Hinduism affected the world indirectly through Buddhism. Buddhism came out of Hinduism and is regarded as one of the universal religions today. If there was no Hinduism, there would be no Buddhism and its beautiful temples. Also, when people usually think about East and Southwest Asia, they usually think about religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. Some practice these religions because they offer new way of thinking, different from Christianity and Islam.

I agree karma has influenced all over the world, even we use it in the discussion board. The concept of rebirth is also well known for us. I heard that Hinduism is absolutely different from Christianity and Islam as Jessica said. Indians force the Christians and Muslims who live in India to accept Hinduism. It is called "localization".

HAHAHAH I agree with Cesar that thing of Karma, You do something bad, and then something bad happen to you. In my opinion that is not fair... I'm mean Im sayint this because sometimes I like play around and sometimes I do something that people don't like scare people or make fun of my school friends without any reason, and somtimes they pay me back. So that's my karma

As Julie kind of mentioned, I think rebirth and reincarnation has had a influence. I hear people all the time talking about the next life or past life and what they can do later.

I think Karma has influenced our society and culture alot because we view certain things in this way. For example, whether we do good deeds or not during our lifetime. Moreover, having the potential of having a bad karma can motivate us to do better in life, such as being honest.

I agree that concept of karma and reincarnation affected our world very much. Movies and books often use past life to entertain the audience. I also think Hindu belief of sacred cow impacted a lot of international food companies. I heard that McDonald made special whopper for Indians since they do not eat beef. When food chains spread to other nations, they should consider culture and religion and adapt their products. I also think that our cafeteria would also prepare separate menu if there were Hindus in our school.

yeah thats so true elijah, a lot of people believed in karma, even those people who are not Hindu. And Jessica, Muslim also believed in karma but it God who decides it, some people will get the 'payback' of what they did in the world only in the afterlife, some will also got it in the world. There must be a consequence of what you did. Anyways, David also pointed a interesting point in here hahah, yeah i think the farmer who sells cow have to consider if they have change their business lol

Well what I know from Hinduism, they need to have some kind of spiritual contact with their gods. Yoga is something that has been influenced on many people throughout the world. It is a way of relaxing and and connecting with your inner-self. The position that the gods have like Buddha and the Hindu god are the cross legged position which obviously you do while you meditate in yoga.

When i think about the Hindu religion i tend to think about Mohandas Ghandi. No, I am not being racist, but when you think about the role models of the Hindu religions itself, you tend to think a lot about Ghandi. I think that Hinduism has influenced peaceful movement in our society today. The religion itself seems to advocate peace so in that perspective, I believe that the Hindu religion is about non-violence.

what do you call Bali people? Balinese? I guess it is... They are so religious. And i think we dont wanna mess around and shall watch our mouth in Bali. My friend has experienced this, i dont know if it was true or not but he says this: "Im not sure if its raining or, Hindu's God is pissing on my face" and his friend says "watch your mouth, we're not in Jakarta, we arent home, you cant say whatever you want". And later on, he fainted. Once i heard that story, i was shocked because his expression was so serious and he was freaking out. what goes around, comes around like a hula hoop~

Reincarnation or rebirth influenced to our society. There are still some people who believe that they will bear again when they die as a different kind of living things. People make some kind of expressions based on Hinduism to people. Some people say, they want to do something when they born again.
