I remember I used to know a lot of different Greek myths and stories when I was young. Most of my knowledge came from reading comic books, but I think I really liked them because I still remember some stuff. One of my favorite stories was about Apollo and a fairy/nymph that he fell in love with. He was like obsessed with her because Cupid shot an arrow at him, but she didn't like him back. She hated him so much that as she was running away from him, she asked her dad to make her into a tree. I still remember Apollo's sad face as he was watching her turn into a tree... What stories do you guys know about?

This story is almost like Snow White without the migits. My favorite god is either Zeus or Apollo. I remember one story about the story of Medusa. There was once a very beautiful nyiad that was proud of her beauty. She would crave the appraisal of men and was very jealous of other beautiful women. One day there was this incredibly beautiful girl in the town Medusa lived. She was very gentle and kind-hearted and Zeus noticed her and spied on her. One day, Medusa disguised herself as an old woman and gave her an apple when the girl helped her (Medusa pretended to be hurt). When the girl bit into the apple, her skin became all shriveled up and all her hair turned grey. Zeus, enraged to see this, cursed Medusa and told her that from now on, any man who complements her beauty will be their last compliment.

Greek Myth.... I dont really know much but my dear friend Alex just told me one. This is story about Odysseus the Greek general on his way back home. He settled down in one island and he meets Cyclopes... monster with one eye. Odysseus tricks Cyclopes with his speaking and make him blind with his soldiers. I really like how smart Odysseus is and i kinda want to learn from him... Cleverness can help you in dangerous situations. Thanks to Alex

I think the story of Narcissus is kinda weird but interesting at the same time. He was so full of himself and his beauty that he hated those who praised him. He once saw his reflection in the water and just fell in love with it. Not knowing that he was looking at himself, he felt so miserable for he's never going to be with his lover. So he committed suicide, and that's the end of the story. The tale itself is a tragedy I suppose, but seeing a lot of people who still suffer from the so-called Narcissism is very entertaining.

I really like the Prometheus myth and I think its also the creation myth for greeks or at least how the humans were created. Basically every god wass tasked with creating a creature and Prometheus was the one who created humans. After he creates humans Zeus put and order that they must give tribute to him and this is when Prometheus gets clever and tricks Zeus. He Creates two stacks of tributes which in this case are meats. One is burnt fat and the other is meat. He gave the fat to zeus and the meat to the humans. it is also said that he brought fire to the humans the same way. Anyways here is where Zeus gets mad and gives him a very adist punishment. Basically he was forced to nbe tied onto a mountain and have a bird peck out his liver every day, only to have it grow back every night. After this a bunch of things happens and then comes hte myth of Pandora...

I know a Greek myth, which explains why the continent Europe is called Europe. One night, a Phoenician princess, called Europa, dreamed of two continents arguing with each other over her. One was Asia, and another one was nameless. Asia argued that since Europa was born in Asia, Europa belonged to Asia. The nameless continent, however, said that the birth was not important and Zeus would change that. The next day, Europa and her friends went off to gather flowers near the sea. Zeus, who noticed the beautiful Europa, instantly fell in love with her. In order to abduct her, he transformed into a white bull and appeared in front of her. Europa, who was amazed by the beauty of the white bull, slid onto its back. The bull, along with Europa on its back, jumped off to sea and took her to an island, called Create, which was in a continent, that Europa has never seen before. Then Athena appeared in front of her, explaining her that this new continent will be named after Europa because she will bear many sons for Zeus.

I like the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus making an effort to escape his own work of legend, the labyrinth. It was known to be so complex that in order to escape, one ( who knows the way to escape) make a huge trail in the labyrinth to escape it, for the path is quite confusing. Daedalus, who is trapped in the labyrinth, finds a way to escape by making his own wings for himself and his son. Though his son ends up dying, he ends up escaping in the end with his brilliant wings. This shows the intellectual capacity of mankind in my opinion, and thats why I like it.

The Greek myth that I remember is the one about Echo. There was a nympth named Echo, who lost her voice from Hera. Then one day a handsome guy named Narsissus went to the forest. Echo saw Narsissus in the forest and fell in love with him. Narsissus rejected Echo and ran away from her. He came to a lake and saw his reflection for the first time in his life and fell in love with his reflection except that he didn't know that it was his reflection. He thought that his reflection was another person. Trying to kiss his reflection, Narsissus never left the lake and died there. That is why Narsissus flowers only grow by banks of lakes. That was the most impressive story that I read from the comic books.

OHHH man Julie I know that episode in the show. In the same show, I remember the story about the Titan Cronus, who was the father of the 6 major gods (Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, etc.). He ate his wife's babies because he was an evil man. I remember feeling sick because of that, and I couldn't sleep for days because I was scared of Cronus. In the myth, Cronus is overthrown by Zeus and is locked up in Tartarus. Then I remember the creation of Olympus, and how Hades got sent to rule the underworld because of Zeus's trickery.

I heard a story about narcissistic Narcissus. He was a beautiful man but he never got attracted by any women. No matter how the women were pretty or hot. One day, he went hunting. He saw himself on the surface of the lake. That was just a reflection but he didn't realize. He fell in love with himself. And he died for the unreasoning passion. I actually thought this was a joke. How can someone never know her/his looking in the entire life? And fall in love with self?? Isn't that said as a gay?

I think I remember something about how Zeus's dad didn't want his kids to be born so he ate all of the new babies that his wife gave birth to. It sounded kinda gross, but I guess he was really scared that someone might take his throne. I also remember how Aphrodite was born, but I think that's too inappropriate for the discussion board. So if you're curious you can look it up

My favorite Greek myth is the one about Cupid and this other girl whose name I don't remember. The girl was very beautiful and people who used to love Venus started to worship the girl instead. So Venus sent her son Cupid to the girl so that people would not love the girl anymore. However, Cupid made a mistake so instead, he shot his arrow to himself which made him fall in love with the girl instead. Cupid and the girl fell in love as a result. Venus got furious that her son "betrayed" her but later welcomed this idea because that meant that all those fans of the girl would come back to Venus, since the girl is already taken. So later Venus blessed the couple and the couple lived happily ever after (:

Oh I also remember those Greek myth comic books! They seem to be still popular, but I forgot most of the stories...I remember one story because it was so terrible. So, there are two royal parents who get prophecy that their son is destined to kill his father and marry his mother. Of course, they are terrified and send their newborn son to remote place. However, destiny always wins, and the guy (I forgot his name) eventually kills his father in the battle and marries his mother as a war prize. When he realizes what happened, he is despaired and dies...I think. It was pretty scary when I first read it.

One story i know from Greek myth is journey of Odysseus. When he was returning home, he encounters so many hardships. When he was resting on a island with his soliders, he goes into the cave. Unfortunately, cave was owned by cyclopes. Odysseus's soldiers were eaten by cyclopes everyday and it made Odysseus to come up with clever strategy. He pokes cyclope's eye with tree and make him blind. Eventually, he escapes safely. Odysseus's journey to his home is my favorite part of Greek myth. I highly recommend you guys to read it.

I really enjoyed the myth of Pandora's box. Zeus gives Pandora a box filled with many evil things. Pandora does not know what is in the box. Zeus is just trying to get back at Prometheus for giving the humans fire. Pandora ends up opening the box and all the evil things fly out. Basically, this Greek myth is trying to explain all the evils in the world and why they were there. It is a really interesting story, and I think that you guys should read it. If you guys have ever heard of the term "Pandora's Box" this story is where the term came from.
