I definitely think that Achilles was being more arrogant. He thought that he deserved a war prize more than the king. He thinks that he is equal as the king which he totally wasn't. Achilles even puts Agamemnon down by saying that he didn't even fight in the war so he doesn't deserve anything. If you can be that rude to the king, you probably have a lot of arrogance to do that.

Both of them are very arrogant but if have to choose just one, then i would pick Achilles. Those two were equally arrogant but I picked Achilles because he doesn't have good excuse as Agamemnon to be arrogant. Agamemnon is the king of the kings and general of the generals, so he has very good reasons to be arrogant. However, Achilles was just being... ARROGANT. His dad is the god of something (which I don't remember :0 ) and his mom is a beautiful princess. However, he's still in a position where he should obey Agamemnon but was being very rude and took everything so vigorously. So, I think Achilles was the one who was being more arrogant.

I agree that both Agamemnon and Achilles were arrogant that it is hard to decide who is more arrogant. Agamemnon makes god angry by rejecting the ransom from Apollo's priest. He should be a generous king and war leader. Achilles boldly goes against his boss to not lose his war prize and declares not to fight for him. He should be obedient and helpful subordinate general, even if he is demigod. Well, since loyalty seemed to be important value at that time, I guess Achilles is more arrogant since he should be listening to Agamemnon.

i think achilles was more arrogant compared to agamemnon. and im not sure for this one, but i think agamemnon also half god and half human isnt he? i mean like, who is he? he's just a warrior who is half god and half human, so was Agamemnon. Agamemnon was the king, he could ask anything that he wants. you guys might think that it was arrogant, but he was the king! it was his right to get anything that he demands, no matter what. and all people below him should service him. its a normal thing.

Well I agree with you. Achilles was arrogant that he went to warrior just to be remembered in the history of Greece. He also went to war because he knew that he was the best warrior. But on the other hand, I think I would have done the same If I was The Greatest warrior thought out Greece. I think he was normal you know..... It's just matter of how much he acted that way. For this statement, I think he was enough. He deserved this arrogance...

Position wise, I think that Achilles was more arrogant in the story. One fact is that Achilles, though a half-god and an elite general, is in a lower position than Agamemnon, which implies that he ought to be more submissive under the king as his servant and as his soldier. However, the fact that he tried to adivse the king into obeying his words made it clear that he was more outwardly arrogant about himself.

achilies was more arrogant i think. he threathend the kings throne and rebelled against him by attempting to take his war slave and make it as his own. i think thats what took him the most as being arrogant. obviously as the king's general, he should have respect him and follow his orders

Like we discussed in class, Agamemnon was just being a king. Since he ruled over Argos and had a lot of powerful heroes in his hand, him acting like that wouldn't be arrogance. In fact, I think it was just him claiming what is rightfully his. Achilles, on the other hand, was arrogant because he talked back to the king. Also, he was so arrogant that he thought that he would be able to kill Agamemnon and threatened the king.

Both Agammemnon and Achilles is arrogant. But i think Achilles was more arrogant beacuse he did not respect his general. Army is group where you have to follow orders of the highest rank. Even though Achilles was son of the god, he should respect his bosss because he did not listen to Agammemnon, team work disappeared in Greek Army.

I think both Achilles and Agamemnon are arrogant. Achilles is arrogant because he does not obey the king even though the king has absolute power. Agamemnon is equally arrogant because he trys to take away Achilles' war prize. Also, Agamemnon did not return the priest's daughter even when the priest was begging.

Both Achilles and Agamemnon showed arrogance equally. Even though he was a descendant of the god Zeus, his rank was not as high as expected to be. He, being a general, showed no signs of respect to his king. On the other hand, being taken a war prize away from him, Agamemnon demanded Achilles's war prize, which boiled Achilles anger even more dreadful, which made Agamemnon an arrogant person as well.

In my opinion, it would be Agamemnon that was being more arrogant. This is because, although he was the king and kings can do whatever they desire to do especially in the early days, I think that it was wrong of Agamemnon to try and take away Achilles' girlfriend. Everyone should have the same rights no matter what position they may be in.

I believe that Achilles was much more arrogant. Honestly in that period no soldier or general is dumb enough to threaten the king in ending his life; Achilles however did not hesitate and even went as far as unsheathing his sword. I obviously believe that Achilles is down right spoiled and arrogant because although he may be a half-god, he should still respect his kingdom and his king.
