It is very important to learn more about our past especially for the big events happened in the past because there is a quote saying ¡°history repeats itself.¡± Therefore, it is important to know more about our past to predict the similarity between past and present to know how our past shaped our society and what kind of influences did it make our society to progress for the better. Also, we can connect the events happened in the past to resolve for better future.

Although learning history takes a lot of time and effort in memorizing dates and places of specific events from the past, it affects us even now. In school, students learn history from textbooks that try to "advertise" their own nations. Students develop some kind of pride of their countries over time and remember important historical figures as ideal people to look up to.

Learning history is very important even though it might seem boring. We could learn where all the knowledges came from and even predict what would happen in the future. In my US history class we discussed on why we learn history. I said history could prevent us from making the same mistake. If we know why such accidents happen, we would not do it again and their would be new laws to ban such things that leads to accidents. Learning history would also help us understand the perspective of people living in different countries and their culture.

I believe that history has caused many things that are going on globally in the world right now. For example, the political conflicts in the Middle East is caused by certain events in history. The global warming is caused by what the people have done during the industrial revolution and all of the technological events that follow after it. Overall, history is involved in everything, and without it, it's simply impossible to explain many of the current events and just why the world is like today. My history teacher, Mr. Snipes has told us an axiom which was, "History is power." And I certainly agree with this idea on many terms. Hence, I think history is very relevant and essential to our knowledge.

History allows us to know how our ancestors lived in the past. From this, we learn about the old wisdom and teachings of our ancestors. It is important to know where our culture comes from and how it was shaped, so that we can have a stronger connection to our respective cultures by having a deeper understanding of our history. Also, history serves as a guide for our actions and decisions, because it teaches us how to act during reoccurring situations.

History is never useless, if he had no history wed have no perception of the present or no ideals for the future. For example, im going to use an example my friend gave me. If someone never decided to study the many cultures that exist then we would have no inspiration no model to base ourselves in the future no way to better ourselves besides trial and error. If someone never studied Greek Democarcy or the Roman Republic, we might still have slavery until this day.

if there's no history to remember than there's no way we would be able to learn something, the governors or the politicians might repeat the same mistakes that had been done in the past by the others. We wont be able to differentiate ourselves, people would no longer want to sacrifice for their country if they would know that they wouldn't be remembered or even known by the upcoming generations to receive their respect and love.

I also think that history is an important topic that we should certainly learn about. Although some people may believe that history is the past and whats important is the present. However, learning about the history is certainly like learning an example of the lifestyles of the early people. This example would help us live a better life as a result.

I personally think that history is very not important for me. However in general it is important for people to know about history as many of you have said that learning a history can prevent from making mistakes that we can to right now in the future. And also learning about the culture can explain many things about the person from that country so people dont make any mistakes to prevend all the behaviors we can make. Basically my opinion is that learning history is to prevend what can happen in the future. Because there is any possibilty that history can repeat itself.

There is a commonly used phrase about how time goes in a circle. I believe that this is partly true, because events do tend to repeat themselves. But, the crucial part is to learn history to be able to take out events that are needed to be avoided when the time in the cycle comes around again. Basically, what I am saying is that people use history to be able to filter the cycle of time of the bad events in history. Some call this "learning from history"

i personally think that history as boring and uninteresting as it may seem, it is very important. i say this because many things from the past always influence us into behaving or acting different. it is also important to realize that history teaches us ways to not make the same mistakes over again and that way we improve as a person or as society.

i belive we cannot live wisely without knowing the past. otherwise we will continue repeating the same mistakes without learning the history. Therefore learning history is the most important step of our lives

I have to agree with you Julie. Looking at our ancestors perspective or their work in the past might explain the behavior that we have and also find out about ourselves better. And I think history is very important in multiple ways other than just knowing about ourselves. people usually think of boring speech of the history. But, if we think about the past belief that people had, it might affect people's lives. For example, Karl Marx originally wrote Capitalism and this later affected Russian to convert into communism. This gave significant result in their history. In this case, Its definitely important to study history

I think history does matter. Come, think about it, you want to know where you came from, your family background. No wonder you might be a descendant of someone who changed the world once. Wouldn't that be fun. It's like reading a storybook but it's reality not fiction. Knowing the past can sometimes reshape the future.

Thinking about it, I realized that not only does history allow us to learn from our mistakes, but it's also why cultures exist today. By learning about the beliefs of our ancestors who first found our respective countries, we become aware of our cultural heritage. If we didn't study history, we wouldn't know what our ancestors did or why we do the things that we do. For example, America is founded upon the idea of freedom. If Americans didn't constantly look back at why or how their ancestors found the nation, then America would change its principles often. Then America, which is known for freedom, wouldn't be so free anymore, and the point of making the nation would be gone.
