In Genesis, God spoke to Noah saying "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God made he man." I think this means if a man hurts someone he should also be hurt. If he kills someone he should also be killed. So it relates with the death penalty. What do you think about the death penalty? Do you support it?Or are you against it?
It depends on the situation but if one person killed innocent people, he should also die in pain so I think death penalties are necessary. But it would be scary to hear news killing people followed by the law.

I don't think the death penalty should be considered something ethically correct in our society. When you give the government or someone the legal power to execute another human being, then you're giving him the ultimate power. You are giving him the power to take a life and if he or they have that power then what cant they do? the worst part about it is that were give them that power. I might be saying this because I lack empathy in the sense that maybe if someone murdered someone close to me then I would probably wish that someone would do something about it. But right now I think that the death penalty is something that we shouldn't really think as a viable way to deal with people.

I think death penalty should be legal. Just imagine if one of your family was killed by this criminal. Don't you want that criminal to die in pain? If criminal killed my family member, i will ask court for death penalty. There are criminals who are threatening safety of our society. It is waste of our tax to even put them in the jail forever. They can still eat and sleep in Jail. I think in some cases, death penalty must be applied.

I personally think that Death penalty is unncessary. I think it's unneccessary NOT because I think it's too cruel to kill people who made mistakes; some of those criminals do deserve death for what they had committed. But I think the death penalty is unnecessary because death penalty is not severe enough to punish some criminals. I might sound a little bit too brutal but I think killing those criminals and letting them not feel the pain on earth is not enough to punish them. I think being imprisoned for life is more suitable to deal with those criminals. Once we give them death penalty and they get killed, they don't get to be physically or mentally punished. But if we imprison them for life, then they do get a fair punishment. So instead of killing them and letting them "free", I think it is a better way to imprison them forever.

I don't necessarily think that part of the Bible is saying that the person who shed another person's blood is going to be killed for his wrongs. I think it can mean just painful punishments for what he did. I don't think death penalties are a good thing. I mean I feel like putting them to death is doing the same thing that that person did. I believe that it is just better to put that person to jail for the rest of their lives. Death penalties are too harsh and hypocritical.

Min just explained what I was thinking. I strongly agree with what Min said because those brutal criminals do not deserve to die just like that. I personally feel they need to suffer in like the same way that they have caused others to suffer. Imagine oneday all of your family members were killed on a street right in front of your own eyes then the criminal dies away from a death penalty. If I was that left out person, I would feel extreme emptiness in my heart. So empty that I would just go so mad. So mad that I would take my anger out on the world and everything around me. Wouldn't you be like that? Therefore, I believe that death penalty isn't a method to punish those criminals properly.

The death penalty is a power that should not be instituted. I agree with Cesar on this one. When you give the government the power to institute the death penalty, you give them basically the power of life and death. This punishment is irreversible, and if the wrong man is punished, that is terrible. Also, the death penalty does not SOLVE anything. Sentences should be given out based on trying to help the perpetrator find that he/she has done wrong, and maybe eventually release them back to society. In the United States, they have the highest number of prisoners in the world. This just saps tax dollars and the people's money. People should try to be fixed, given another chance.

I think death penalties are wrong. Why should we have power over someone else's life and judge them saying they deserve to live or not? I think death penalties will just add more grudges and hate in the world. It'll add on to the violence that's already so prevalent in the world. There's always going to be someone out there that will want revenge. I don't think people should have power over someone else's lives no matter how bad or messed up we think they are.

honestly, like you said, it really just depends on the situation because theres times where death penalty shud be put into action, but other times its out into action without necessary reason. sometimes we think that the best way to avenge someones death is if they also suffer through pain, but sometimes i think that one way they suffer more or even try and reflect on what they did is by life sentence in prison

I don't think capital punishment is an effective way to punish someone. I reckon that what God meant was to not commit those felonies in the first place, because they're gonna come right back at ya.. I personally am against death penalty, because it doesn't give the criminal a chance to realize how serious his crimes are.. It sounds really cruel but if I had the power to choose the punishments, I would come up with one that forces the criminals to face their affliction every day. Maybe I would tickle them as soon as they wake up from sleep, and the tickling will take place for the rest of their lives.. Idk..

Even if the criminal were to commit such crimes, to put them to death is unnecessary. As Cesar mentioned, to give an institution the power to kill or spare a human being wouldn't be reliable. I'm not saying that I totally do not trust the government but honestly with all the conspiracies, lobbies, and the bad reputations of the politicians that make up the government, it wouldn't be the safest thing for mankind to put their lives on the hands of the government. If the government comes up with a legitamate excuse to execute a person, then it's possible that an innocent or even the wrong person gets executed. Though this is merely a hypothetical situation, it's quite possible for it to occur in reality. For that reason, I strongly feel that death penalty should be prohibited from society.

In my opinion, Death penalty is not an appropriate way of punishing criminals. Even if they committed terrible crimes like murdering another persons, I don't think its right to punish them exactly the same as their crimes, because if murdering is considered immoral and should be punished then killing the criminals is immoral as well. Also I think the criminals should be given a chance to realize what they did was wrong and learn from their mistakes through minor punishments.

I kind of agree with the death penalty because even though it is not morally right thing to do, people who committed crime will have to face the consequences. If these criminals are released, there is high possibility that they will commit another crime later in the future. So before these criminals commit another crime, they have to be punished.

I don't think it's good to give someone the power to determine who would live and who would die. That's up to God, I believe. Of course most of the times, it's easy to think that what murderers do is deserving of death, but I don't think that's a decision for us to make. And no one can be one hundred percent sure that someone committed a crime unless that person confesses his or her crimes. Humans aren't all-knowing, so there's a limit to how well we can determine someone's guilt. I just don't like the thought of killing someone legally.

I think death penalty is necessary. These days, people are committing horrible crimes but they only get a few years of sentences. I think there should be more strict punishments for the criminals so that they cannot commit crime again. It doesn't necessarily have to be deth penalty, but I think there should be strict punishments for criminals and thus death penalty is necessary for such crimes.
