Recently, we started watching Hancock. As I was watching it, I started to realize how people get fascinated with this whole super heroes.
For example, in many myths or legends, we have at least one person who is so powerful and defeats one of the unconquerable monsters.
Also, we have at least one movie that has person with supernatural power as a main character : Batman, Avengers, Jumper and etc.
So my question is, why do you think people get so excited and love this whole supernatural beings?

I think people get so excited and love supernatural beings because they're so different from us. It's fun to watch and hear about superpowers because we know that we don't have that and hearing about something we can't do is interesting. It also makes you wonder what it would be like if we did have those powers.

I think it's because having superpowers are every child's dream. Once, when I asked people what kind of superpowers that they wanted to have, everyone, even the adults, answered with such ease and enthusiasm about what kind of powers that they wanted. This, for me, shows that everyone has a longing to have some cool powers that let them be extraordinary. Even after we grow up and turn into adults, we long to be able to do amazing things, like jumping from place to place in an instant, or lighting things on fire just by looking at them. Movies and stories about superheroes allow us to imagine what it would be like if we had powers, and it fascinates us to see our imaginations come to life in movies and stories.

because people really dreamed about it, to have a superpower. like what joon stated, people want to be extraordinary and they want to look fantastic to other people. to be honest, everyone in this world want to be better than any other person, and we could feel it through out the movie and it could express ourselves on the movie. superhero movie that i really like is iron man, because i could see myself in tony stark. if other heroes tried to hide their identity, tony stark just tell to the whole world that he was the iron man haha so cool. i can relate it to myself, i dont want to hide my identity if i were superhero, why do i have to do that?

I agree with Hannah that we like watching superheroes because they are so different. It's so different from how we live and the world that we live in. It is a completely different atmosphere and lifestyle. I think we find normal life pretty dull and mundane because we do same things everyday and its just fun to watch people do other unimaginable stuff.

I think because they are just COOL~~ ^_^. but i really think that because they did something awesome or "OUT off THIS world". which attract people like us (maybe not everyone so dont be offended) who likes them. for example the movie IRON MAN, i love that movie and sometimes i think that was cool and awesome and i was fascinated by the technology in the movie.

Its just cool! haha I think its every persons dream to have superpowers. We humans want super powers because we are all so unsatisfied with the powers we are capable of doing now. We think its much easier to get work done with super powers because everythings more super powery...haha we are greedy and we want more than what we have. For example, for me, I suck at taking tests because ibseriously would like to believe i have terrible test anxiety. Therefore, the super power i would like to have is to be able to see all the correct answers right there from my eyeballs..haha we want to make life easier!! I think though that step by step, our ''super power'' desires are granted to us! like if you think about it, all recent technology or new ideas can be considered a super power because it helps us get things done more efficiently and better.

Every time we crave or wish for the amazing ability that we dont have, we lays on the bed and make a super cool story in our heads before we go to sleep. It is very cool to have such an amazing ability that is different from others, just like a unicorn.

It is just simply exciting to see people with supernatural power. Since it is not present in reality, that would probably be why people are so interested in watching those type of movies. For some people, they may like watching it because they are weak and are jealous of the power that superheroes possess in movies.

I think that humans have that innate attraction to the supernatural. Why else do people keep spotting UFOs and the Yeti or Bigfoot? They love the unknown and the weird. Also, having a superpower would appeal to our human nature of being top. With that power, superheros become the very top of the pyramid, something that i feel all humans want.

I think it's because we all want someone or something that can solve our own problems. It's usually young kids who are fascinated by those heroes. They're afraid to face their issues, and turn to superheroes who might give a helping hand. But as we grow older, we learn to deal with our own issues, and slowly draw ourselves back from the whole supernatural concepts. I was once obsessed with heroes on cartoons or movies as well, but now I know that I can be a lot stronger than them by facing my own troubles!

I think we all like it because we know that it can't happen in real life. We like reading and watching things that are highly unrealistic because we want to get out of our boring, mundane lives. It's also fun to imagine ourselves like those superheroes, having the same powers and the same struggles. We all wanted to become a superhero at one point in our lives. Like every time I watched X-Men, I seriously thought I could move metals if I reached my hands toward it and stared at it for a long time. But it didn't work.. It's fun to just think about being someone that we know we can't be.

I guess people dream of becoming one of these superheroes and it is very tempting to have superpower. I sure was that person because I wish I had a power because I have something that I want to do with these powers.

I think many people enjoy superhero movies because superheroes can do wonderful things that normal people cannot. Superheroes are usually portrayed as good people whose personality is just like ours but who defeat seemingly-indomitable villains in the end. People are usually weak in the face of evil and therefore can feel catharsis from watching superheroes going through emotional difficulties (just like normal people) and later destroying bad culprits (something everyone wants to do). It is good to see justice victorious over evil.

People love superheroes because they are not like us and we are fascinated by them. Many of them are strong, immortal, and can fly. Plus, they are the "good guys" in movies, myths, and books by fighting against the "bad guys" and saving the feeble human beings. So this action promotes a very positive image of them. Normal people praise the superheroes and want to be just like them.
